Liked overall but hate when authors do this…

Will start by saying I liked overall and want to see what happens. But I hate when authors do this, it’s such a cop out!!
(Spoiler ahead)
The twist at the end was shocking because the main character was written in first person so the fact she was actually someone else of course was shocking as the entire narrative from her POV is a lie. It a reminds of me the old trope of waking up and it was actually all a dream. It was WTF for me and not in a good way.

Very confused by other reviews saying this was a lot of fluff and slow. Totally disagree— great story building and necessary insight in to the saga. Couldn’t stop listening!

I’ve never read Dean Koontz before but really enjoyed this story. Different from anything else I’ve read.
My one gripe is the California / surfer lingo was so cringe and the narrator made it more so. No one talks like that in the beach cities!

Better than I was expecting

I’m kind of laughing at the reviewers that didn’t know this was a retelling of book 1 from Cas’s POV as it clearly says that. I loved hearing Cas’s POV but was pleasantly surprised for the present chapters and the end!!! Omg I cannot wait to find out what happens! JLA is amazing and I would spend TWO credits in this book!

I don’t know if they fixed what people were talking about, but I heard no evidence of the narrator being sick. Rachel Soler is an awesome narrator and I enjoyed her doing the Lunar Chronicles too.
And this book was really good, lived up to the hype and can’t believe I have to wait until November for the next book.
