I wouldn’t wish the situations Gabrielle Stone found herself in on my worst enemy. Not only has Gabrielle navigated a mine field of heartbreak in a relatively short period of time but finds the strength to go a journey to become a better and stronger version of herself. This isn’t just a recounting of these events and what she’s learned but she also teaches the tools that she used to come out of these experiences a better person than she was before. Well worth going on this journey with Gabrielle and putting her tips to use in your own life.

The story of the creation of Disneyland is quite fascinating and while Disney has pretty much scrubbed their history to eliminate the involvement of C.V. Wood, it’s refreshing to hear the not sanitized version of the events. Only downside is the narration. Todd James Pierce hosts a podcast and has a wonderful performance voice that would have better accompanied this book. I was disappointed by the narration of Al Kessel as his performance feels over enunciated and condescending. He’s narrated a few other Disney related titles and he pretty much sucks the joy out of the content of those titles too. In any case, great content in this book let down by a not overly enjoyable narration.

As others have mentioned, the editing on audiobook is not perfect, with a handful of places where the narrator restarts at random and a couple of errors, but it doesn't detract from a very interesting and engaging story. It certainly puts the Eisner years of Disney into new perspective. It seems Eisner was both a blessing and a curse for the Disney company. Who knew a company that people treasure for family values was home to high levels of corporate backstabbing and high drama. It certainly puts the DVD and Blu-Ray retrospectives on the animated movies from the era in a whole new perspective. I enjoyed the book, it was a rollercoaster of a story.
