The Bodine ranch and resort in western Montana is a family business, an idyllic spot for vacationers. A little over thirty thousand acres and home to four generations, it’s kept running by Bodine Longbow with the help of a large staff, including new hire Callen Skinner. There was another member of the family once: Bodine’s aunt, Alice, who ran off before Bodine was born.

How wrong I was
Revisado: 11-21-22
When I began listening to this book, I thought the female narrator was lacking. I wasn’t really into her, and felt like she was keeping me from being engaged in the story. But I was relieved to know there was also a male narrator, and figured he would be better. Not so much. Had the same reaction to him. But I kept listening. 12 hours later, I checked to see how much time was left in the book, and was SO relieved I had two hours more with these wonderful narrators and these beautiful characters. Never have I’ve been so happy to be so wrong. Loved this book!

A disappointment
Revisado: 04-25-22
I am a Catherine Bybee fan. Her Weekday Brides series is one of my favorites. But even though this book was the first in a series, it was so overloaded with characters, it was tough to keep everyone straight. I appreciate the foray into action adventure, and thought those parts were done well, but they were dissipated by too many plot strings and, again, way too many characters. The Narrator was OK, but she was hampered by having to go in and out of so many different dialects. That, plus keeping the male voices distinctive, would’ve been difficult in the best of circumstances. My advice? Read Bybee’s other books instead.

Historia
Coll MacTaggert, Viscount Glendarril, is a big, brawny Highlander who doesn't like being told what to do - not even by his exasperated English mother who is determined to see her eldest son wedded and bedded. However, when he comes to the rescue of an irresistibly beautiful woman, Coll discovers that he may have found his perfect match.... The challenge isn't that Persephone Jones is famous, wealthy, independent, and smarter than anyone he knows. The problem is that she isn't interested in marrying any man.

A wonderful introduction to Suzanne Enoch
Revisado: 04-01-22
Although I’m a fan of historical romance, I’d never read any of Suzanne Enox books before. I’m so glad a fellow Lisa Kleypas fan suggested I might like her work. It was exactly as advertised. Funny, charming, adventurous, and of course, romantic. I took away one star because the reader of the first book had a lisp. The reader of the last two books kept pronouncing Niall (Nile) as ‘Neil’ and Smythe (rhymes with writhe) as Smith. Annoying. Especially since the pronunciations had been established in the first book. Also, her dialects were all over the place. Fortunately, that didn’t detract from these wonderful stories. Can’t wait to read more.

Historia
I never expected to be anyone’s white knight. That’s not a role I’ve ever played. But when the Casso crime family shifts into uncharted territory, they’re looking for a new hero, and they’re looking for me - Cannon Freeman, the black sheep. But my time in disgrace is at an end. It’s my turn to rise up and save the people who matter most to me. Even if my family has never given a damn about me, I will not let them fall. More than anything, I will not let her fall. One thing I know is true - in my life, nothing is ever what it seems.

It’s been a long time since I couldn’t put a book down, but the streak is broken. The last four hours of this book kept me on the edge of my seat; and I kept finding excuses to delay work and chores to stay put and listen through to the very end. Brilliantly written. Brilliantly read.

Multiple narrators was a win
Revisado: 12-31-21
I enjoyed the use of several narrators on this book, and only subtracted a star because one of the men did such an atrocious job with the voice of Genny. Everyone else was wonderful. Likewise, there’s a lot about the story that worked, but it didn’t have the flow I find so consistent in other Ashley novels. Still, it was a good read/listen if not a great one.

Revisado: 11-05-21
This was a great love story; a funny warm and charming glimpse into a small town in Louisiana; a mystery that kept me guessing, and was brilliantly narrated by Christina Traister. It had all the magic of a Julie Garwood historical in a contemporary setting.

Historia
When I was eight years old, Caven Hunt saved me from the worst kind of evil to walk the Earth. It didn’t matter that I was a kid. I fell in love with him all the same. But that was where my fairy tale ended. Years later, a one-night stand during the darkest time imaginable gave us a little girl. It was nothing compared to the pitch black that consumed me when I was forced to leave her with Caven for good. At the end of every fairy tale, the happily ever after is the one thing that remains consistent. It wasn’t going to be mine.

Skillfully written and beautifully read
Revisado: 08-30-21
Having read two Aly Martinez books, one of which was the first half of this duet, I felt I was starting to get into her writer rhythm. Starting to anticipate where she would go with the story. Fortunately, the only pattern Aly Martinez seems to be unveiling in this novel is she’ll always find a way to take you by surprise. In the way she smoothly lays in a burgeoning threat, reveals a secret identity, or has a father ruminate on the seen/unseen process of his child’s growth, she surprises. This is a book worth reading, and an author worth journeying with again and again and again. As for the narrators, Andi Arndt and Christian Fox couldn’t have been more perfect. Such an enjoyable listen.

In the aftermath of tragedy, it’s strange the things you remember. The deafening boom as the house exploded. The paralyzing fear as I searched for my wife. The blinding smoke burning my eyes as I carried her out. But carved into my soul for the rest of my days would be the earth-shattering realization that the woman in my arms wasn’t my wife.

Revisado: 08-28-21
Wow! I loved these characters, I loved the story which kept hold of me from first page to last, I loved the beauty of the writing that alternately moved me to tears and made me laugh out loud. On top of that, I did Whispersync; and the narrators were, like everything else associated with this book, exciting and touching and funny and brilliant. Loved it!
