This started out as a great story with wonderful narration then ended unexpectedly. Not sure if this was perhaps an advertiser sponsored short?

Historia
With the imagery of a poet and the reflection of a philosopher, David Whyte turns his attention to 52 ordinary words, each its own particular doorway into the underlying currents of human life. Beginning with "Alone" and closing with "Work", each chapter is a meditation on meaning and context, an invitation to shift and broaden our perspectives on the inevitable vicissitudes of life: pain and joy, honesty and anger, confession and vulnerability, the experience of feeling besieged and the desire to run away from it all.

The power of words
Revisado: 03-17-25
Wonderful and surprising definitions of words we think we know. Lovely to hear the poet David Whyte reading his own work.

Historia
Nicholas Coughlan is twelve years old when his father, an Irish civil servant, announces that God has commanded him to become a painter. He abandons the family and a wife who is driven to despair. Years later, Nicholas’s own civil-service career is disrupted by tragic news: his father has burned down the house, with all his paintings and himself in it. Isabel Gore is the daughter of a poet. She’s a passionate girl, but her brother is the real prodigy, a musician. And yet this family, too, is struck by tragedy: a seizure leaves the boy mute and unable to play.

Perfect for these times
Revisado: 11-09-24
This may sound crazy but this may be the best book I have ever read/listened too. Reminds us of what it is like to live a REAL life, not the propaganda fed to us by our capitalist social media fueled society.

"I’m James Taylor and I’m a professional autobiographer", says the celebrated folk singer at the start of this tender audio memoir. Through decades of music by one of the best-selling musicians of all time, who created classics like "Fire and Rain" and "Carolina in My Mind", James Taylor has doled out his history in the poetry of his work. Taylor says his early life is, "the source of many of my songs", and Break Shot is a tour of his first 21 years in rich, new detail.

Incredibly moving
Revisado: 07-05-24
To hear this voice that I have known nearly my whole life tell the difficult, funny and heartbreaking stories behind these songs was incredibly moving. And somehow that all this was contained in such a young life - “I was only 21” - made this piece all the more remarkable and deeply moving to me.
