Witty, funny, romantic and insightful

This one has everything -
I laughed aloud and cried throughout this book's subtle, and sometimes not-so-subtle reminders of today's lack of gentility. Humour, wit, generation, religious and culture clashes, young romance and later-in-life love are all beautifully handled. I will read this again and recommend it to all!

Such an unusual premise, beautifully written. Very pleasant narrator read this wonderful story that kept me hooked from the first sentence to the very last word! Write more, Melanie Rose - I'm waiting!

An insightful book about a love affair from the points of view of both women - the wife and the "other woman" - made even better by the narration of Cynthia Dixon.

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It is a "period piece" actually written in the period. It was written in the thirties - when the vocabulary was prettier, the manners were kinder and the people were gentler. Sometimes I wished I were reading on my Kindle (for the instant dictionary) but then I would have missed the narrator's delivery - which was spot on - she changed voices for all characters. I plan to listen to all available D. E. Stevenson's books. Miss Buncle and her cast of characters were so entertaining and I got a glimpse of life in England in the thirties.

A great read. The narrator is fabulous!
My second book - but not the last - by this author who had me laughing aloud while I made dinner, did the laundry, etc. An entertaining read - chic lit at its best! Our heroine reminds me of Becky Bloomwood - landing herself in and then trying to find a way out of dilemmas!
