Historia
In her long-awaited memoir, Ina Garten—aka the Barefoot Contessa, author of thirteen bestselling cookbooks, beloved Food Network personality, Instagram sensation, and cultural icon—shares her personal story with those hungry for a seat at her table. Here, for the first time, Ina Garten presents an intimate, entertaining, and inspiring account of her remarkable journey. Ina’s gift is to make everything look easy, yet all her accomplishments have been the result of hard work, audacious choices, and exquisite attention to detail.

How unrelatable was that!
Revisado: 10-24-24
I don’t quite know what I was expecting but I didn’t think I would finish the book with a completely different perception of the author, which is not flattering. Ina comes across as spoiled and pretentious. I applaud her success, she clearly worked hard for her achievements, but she seems to lack any awareness of her privilege, having the deck stacked in her favor throughout her life. I’m no longer a fan.

Historia
Alice Carrière tells the story of her unconventional upbringing in Greenwich Village as the daughter of a remote mother, the renowned artist Jennifer Bartlett, and a charismatic father, European actor Mathieu Carrière. From an early age, Alice is forced to navigate her mother’s recovered memories of ritualized sexual abuse, which she turns into art, and her father’s confusing attentions—her childhood is spent in an adult’s world, with little-to-no boundaries or supervision.

I had to stop listening
Revisado: 06-26-24
What an awful book. I held on as long as I could until I couldn’t. The author bares it all but I just comes across as a poor little rich girl who is quite insufferable. The worst.

Historia
As late summer 1951 descends on Elmira, New York, Myra Larkin, thirteen, the oldest child of a large Catholic family, meets a young man she believes to be Mickey Mantle. He chats her up at a local diner and gives her a ride home. The matter consumes her until later that night, when a triple homicide occurs just down the street, opening a specter of violence that will haunt the Larkins for half a century.

A great story

Beautifully written with astounding character development. I found myself listening at any free moment to continue to unwrap the story. This book is likely not for everyone but captured my attention from the beginning and hooked me through the end. Highly recommend.
