Historia
Soon to be a major TV series starring Kenneth Branagh. On 21 June 1922, Count Alexander Rostov - recipient of the Order of Saint Andrew, member of the Jockey Club, Master of the Hunt - is escorted out of the Kremlin, across Red Square and through the elegant revolving doors of the Hotel Metropol. Deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, the Count has been sentenced to house arrest indefinitely. But instead of his usual suite, he must now live in an attic room while Russia undergoes decades of tumultuous upheaval. Can a life without luxury be the richest of all?

Magnificent!
Revisado: 04-16-23
The writing is beautiful, the characters compelling, and the story is well-paced. “For it is finally only our heartbreak that refutes everything that is ephemeral in love.”
The narrator did a superb job: expressive and yet as efficient and discrete as a concierge of the Hotel Metropol

Better English usage. Fewer weak jokes from Cole.

Satisfying background on Pike. The word “route” meaning a direction taken is pronounced “root” rather than “rought” meaning overwhelming attack!

Historia
"The story begins with my father, actually, and the fact that I'm the one who's answerable for his death. It was not my first crime, as you will see, but it is the one my mother couldn't forgive." In her astonishing best-seller, acclaimed author Elizabeth George reveals the even darker truth behind this startling confession. Playing for the Ashes is a rich tale of passion, murder, and love in which Inspector Thomas Lynley and Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers once again find themselves embroiled in a case where nothing - and no one - is really what it seems.

Revisado: 05-18-19
Tried hard to listen to this story but it was so drawn out . Every word, idea , metaphor was chewed like a cow chewing the cud!
Instead of creating suspense the writer produced wads of boredom that suffocated any interest.

Language defines us as a species, placing humans head and shoulders above even the most proficient animal communicators. But it also beguiles us with its endless mysteries, allowing us to ponder why different languages emerged, why there isn't simply a single language, how languages change over time and whether that's good or bad, and how languages die out and become extinct.
