Peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research. Humorous, surprising, and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street.

Historia
Renowned poet and critic Clive James presents the crowning achievement of his career: a monumental translation into English verse of Dante’s The Divine Comedy. The Divine Comedy is the precursor of modern literature, and this translation - decades in the making - gives us the entire epic as a single, coherent and compulsively listenable lyric poem. Written in the early 14th century and completed in 1321, the year of Dante’s death, The Divine Comedy is perhaps the greatest work of epic poetry ever composed.

Magnificent Translation
Revisado: 02-28-17
This is a marvelous listen. The translation is strong and the reader is expressive. I strongly recommend this for fans of something mystical, beautiful, and ultimately sublime. A triumph.

Historia
Troy is besieged by the invading Greeks, but the young Trojan prince Troilus can think only of his love for Cressida. Her uncle Pandarus brings the two together, but after only one night news comes that Cressida must be sent to the enemy camp. There, as Troilus looks on, she yields to the wooing of the Greek Diomedes. The tragic story is undercut by the commentary of Thersites, who provides a cynical chorus.

Terrific performance
Revisado: 12-16-16
Few of Shakespeare's plays are as troublesome as this--and yet as rewarding. Bravo! The various speeches make the listening worth the effort. It may be the Bard's most philosophical play, and worth listening for that reason alone.

This selection of Hardy's poetry does full justice to its humanity, integrity, humour and evocative power, ranging from charming anthology pieces such as Weathers to the great love poems he wrote after the death of his first wife and his meditations on war and phillosophy.

Decent selection of poems, great readings
Revisado: 02-19-13
If you could sum up Winter Words in three words, what would they be?
The best part of this book is not merely the poems but the biographical material written in third person by Hardy himself. Very insightful. And delightful.
What other book might you compare Winter Words to and why?
Hmm. Any items the "Great Poets" series is well worth the listen.
Which scene was your favorite?
The performance of Hardy's love poetry is moving.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
If I laughed, it was out of delight.
Any additional comments?
If you love poetry--and sadly fewer and fewer do--this will be a true delight.

Historia
William Shakespeare had nothing to do with the actor and moneylender William Shaksper from Stratford-upon-Avon. The man behind the nom de plume "William Shakespeare" was, in fact, a very well-educated aristocrat who often frequented the court of Elizabeth and whose real name was Edward de Vere, Earl of Oxford. The dramas of Shakespeare were not written for the Globe Theatre but for the Queen's court.
