Historia
Is bourbon the quintessential American liquor? Bourbon is not just alcohol - the amber-colored drink is deeply ingrained in American culture and tangled in American history. From the early days of raw corn liquor to the myriad distilleries that have proliferated around the country today, bourbon is a symbol of the United States. This course traces bourbon's entire history, from the 1700s, with Irish, Scottish, and French settlers setting up stills and making distilled spirits in the New World, through today's booming resurgence.

Difficult read, but necessary
Revisado: 07-11-20
The authors provide clear reasoning and evidence to break the 21 myths surrounding Native Americans. I found the information difficult to take in at times but am glad to have further knowledge on Native American points of view. I did have a tough time listening at first because I thought the reader's voice sounded contentious but adapted after listening to a couple of chapters.

Historia
Before Adolf Hitler's rise to power in Germany, there was 1924. This was the year of Hitler's final transformation into the self-proclaimed savior and infallible leader who would interpret and distort Germany's historical traditions to support his vision for the Third Reich. Everything that would come - the rallies and riots, the single-minded deployment of a catastrophically evil idea - all of it crystallized in one defining year.

Revisado: 05-13-20
1924: The Year That Made Hitler provides a thorough introduction to the events and thoughts in Hitler's life that lead to such awful atrocities being carried by the Nazi's. It is required reading for anyone interested in the actions & mind of Hitler.

Historia
When the Nazis invaded Hungary in 1944, they sent virtually the entire Jewish population to Auschwitz. A Jew and a medical doctor, the prisoner Dr. Miklos Nyiszli was spared death for a grimmer fate: to perform "scientific research" on his fellow inmates under the supervision of the man who became known as the infamous "Angel of Death" - Dr. Josef Mengele. Nyiszli was named Mengele's personal research pathologist. In that capacity he also served as physician to the Sonderkommando, the Jewish prisoners who worked exclusively in the crematoriums and were routinely executed after four months.

Excellent History Lesson
Revisado: 04-30-20
The Doctor's account of the events in Auschwitz is both horrifying and educational. The evil that took place in the Nazi death camps must never be forgotten. The book is both difficult to believe because of the content and insightful to help new generations avoid the evils of the past.

Historia
After the success of Heretics, G. K. Chesterton was challenged and compelled to share the story of his pilgrimage to faith. The result is this bracing, watershed religious autobiography in which he follows the doctrines determined in the Apostle’s Creed to deliver a personal, yet universal, defense of Christianity. Ultimately, the literary giant answers the question - not of whether divinity can be believed - but rather, how he himself came to believe it.

Historia
The content of this book is the story about a personal struggle experienced by a man who has for obvious reasons requested to remain anonymous, but who suffered a very serious obsessive compulsive disorder for many years of his life, involving the area of sexual exhibitionism and addiction to pornography. I highly commend this man of Christian faith, for allowing others to understand and to learn from his experience, in spite of the anguish and guilt it caused him for many years of his life.

At times, this book is a difficult audio because of the subject matter, yet, it gives much hope in showing how a man once sexually addicted can turn away from sinful sexual desire & begin to live out a healthy Christian sexuality through the deliverance of God from the temtations of addiction.

Historia
Law professor James J. Duane became a viral sensation thanks to a 2008 lecture outlining the reasons why you should never agree to answer questions from the police - especially if you are innocent and wish to stay out of trouble with the law. In this timely, relevant, and pragmatic new book, he expands on that presentation, offering a vigorous defense of every citizen's constitutionally protected right to avoid self-incrimination.

Just say: I want a lawyer
Revisado: 06-13-19
Easy listening, well spoken audio filled with information every citizen needs to know. Neither go to an interview with the police nor serve on a jury without reading this book. Filled with details about how our justice system works & the many flaws that lead to well meaning, innocent people being convicted of crimes they did not commit. The book concludes by telling how to protect one's innocence by the way one asks for a lawyer.
