A shining example of selfless courage
Revisado: 04-05-25
I first read ’In My Hands’ as a library book about 25 years ago and it made a great impression on me. A chance search recently revealed it was available as an audio book which I have just finished. This story of tremendous courage and self-sacrifice in such a young woman I find even more inspiring and moving today, and the narrator Hope Davis’ voice and style was perfect in bringing Irene’s story to life.
I have ordered the actual book and it will always be in my library. That Ida and Lazar Haller (whom Irene hid in the basement) took in and cared for the aging Major Rugemer in their home until he died (having been rejected by his family for helping the Jews) was yet another moving twist at the end of an incredible story.
What a shining example Irene Gut Opdyke is to us all!

Historia
Ellie Fisher loves most things about being a nurse in the emergency department . . . just not working with Regina Novak, an icy attending physician who acts as if she's God's gift to medicine. The dislike is completely mutual. Regina thinks Ellie is a starry-eyed romantic with a sentimental attitude that has no place at work. When Regina gets talked into volunteering at a singles auction, Ellie accidentally bids on her—and ends up winning. Oops! Since the money raised is for a good cause, they reluctantly decide to go through with the dates.

Ice Queen melts…slowly!
Revisado: 03-19-24
I haven’t finished this book yet as I’m trying hard to ration my listening to make it last! Light-hearted, funny, sometimes poignant, slow-burn f/f with all the right ingredients, and likeable MCs (Regina soon reveals enough cracks in her icy facade so you can’t help liking her almost from the start) and the kind of dialogue where Lori Prince excels. 5-star feel-good!

Historia
Books are Rosie Taft’s life. And ever since she took over her mother’s beloved Manhattan bookstore, they’ve become her home too. The only thing missing is her own real-life romance like the ones she loves to read about, and Rosie has an idea of who she might like to sweep her off her feet. She’s struck up a flirty online friendship with lesbian romance author Brie, and what could be more romantic than falling in love with her favorite author?

Frustrating….
Revisado: 03-16-24
The storyline was promising and it went well in the beginning but eventually I found Rosie difficult to identify with. I found her inability to move past her initial (understandable) grudge towards Jane frustrating, and her constantly blaming Jane for things beyond her control unreasonable, and took away my initial sympathy for her, making her less likeable. Jane, although initially naive about the deeper implications of her job, and in spite of her long journey to eventually stand up for herself and what she believed in, turned out to be a nicer person.
Overall I found it rather difficult to believe in them as a couple, a writer and bookstore owner on the same page. (Pun intended).
Abbey Craden did a good job as usual.

What more can I say?!
Revisado: 03-12-18
Others hva written pretty thorough and helpful reviews here, so I 'll just add this:
Sitting against the armrest of my sofa with my legs stretched out, all snug under a blanket on a cold, sunny winter's day with a cappuccino in my hand, a log fire in the stove, looking out on the snow-covered Islands and mountains and the sea where I live, and listening to this (yet another) wonderful Melissa Brayden novel, my feet going up and down like a kid every time Jenna and Adrienne gently reach out to each other again after the drama, and although I enjoyed her Soho-novels and especially #1 more, still, what a perfect day!
For all les-fic lovers, I warmly recommend it!

Historia
Twenty-eight-year-old Brooklyn Campbell is having a bad day. A speeding ticket, a towed car, and a broken heel are all working against her laid-back vibe. To top it all off, her birth mother, whom she's never met, has requested contact. The only bright spot is an impromptu date with a beautiful and mysterious brunette. Jessica Lennox is what you would call a high-powered executive. She's the head of a multimillion-dollar advertising firm in New York City, and it didn't happen by accident.

Wow! I love this book!
Revisado: 01-31-18
I was sorry to finish this book, I really, really enjoyed it! At last, for those of us who identifiy with feminine girls who are into feminine girls this was a wonderful trip! Much praise to the great performance of Felicity Munroe, who managed to find distinctly different voices for the characters which sounded natural and made listening a joy! I also loved the often very amusing dialogue. Some events in the story were rather contrived and unlikely, but I can forgive that given the overall high standard, I'm still giring it a 5 out of 5!

A fun story but too much cake-icing!
Revisado: 12-11-17
Although I must confess that I LOVE lesbian novels with a happy end where both the central characters are feminine women , ' All That Lies Within' I found a bit over-the-top and surgery for my taste. Perhaps Emily Bersford's voice-potrayal of Rebecca and Dara contribute to my less than 100% enthusiasm. She 'plays' Rebecca overly sugery-sweet and the unnecessarily low-level rather husky voice of Dara and the way she delivered her lines made her sound more like a guy, which I found disappointing.
Nonetheless it's a happy (if unlikely) story with lots of very funny girl-dialogue that kept me smiling. Good if you're lipstick-lesbian-orientated and need cheering up on a rainy day!
