Fair overview of the Vietnam War
Revisado: 05-30-23
This is a great lecture series that covers the entirety of the Vietnam war, along with the many facets that revolve around a conflict of that nature. The lecturer gives the listener the opportunity to understand what the situation was before the war, the motivations of both sides going into this conflict and the complex characters that were the ultimate decision makers that shaped this situation. I would recommend this series to anyone looking to enrich their knowledge of this war or use it as a gateway to dive deeper into this conflict.

Historia
Empire of the Summer Moon spans two astonishing stories. The first traces the rise and fall of the Comanches, the most powerful Indian tribe in American history. The second is the epic saga of the pioneer woman Cynthia Ann Parker and her mixed-blood son Quanah, who became the last and greatest chief of the Comanches. Although listeners may be more familiar with the tribal names Apache and Sioux, it was in fact the legendary fighting ability of the Comanches that determined just how and when the American West opened up.

Balanced Story of the Rise & Fall of the Comanches
Revisado: 05-30-23
This is a great book regarding the history of one of the most ruthless native American tribes. It is my belief, that the author is giving a fair and balanced view from both sides, the settler side and the native American side. He describes both sides' atrocities and their motivations in a way that you like and hate both sides equally, but such is history! There are no good guys and bad guys in history (for the most part, at least!) I would recommend this book for anyone looking to enrich their knowledge on the native American tribes (mainly the Comanches) and to get a fairer view of historical facts during that time period.

Why people believe stupid things
Revisado: 11-14-22
With the recent meteoric rise of conspiracy theories and alternative truths, this book is well positioned to explain why this is so. The author is excellent in explaining the different types of ways people get fooled into believing things that do not make much sense.
If you are like me and you are struggling to understand why people believe things that are clearly, in your experience, not true, then this book will help you get a better understanding of the situation through many recent controversies, learnings from history as well as the author's many experiences.
I highly recommend this book and it was 14 hours well spent!

This book makes perhaps the strongest case for someone to switch to a plant-based diet. Everything is backed by science and research. The author is extremely knowledgeable and everything is cited and explained. The accompanying pdf is a great resource and a very useful partner to the book. I highly recommend this book!

Inspiring, truthful yet sad biography
Revisado: 01-03-22
A lot of people loved and admired the myth of Anthony Bourdain but not all of us had a clue about the workings of his character. A great man full of flaws and this book definitely sheds light to these imperfections. I could not but feel sad after listening to this but it was a great listen as I got to see how this great man lived his life through the eyes of the many many people that experienced him more intimately.

This is the collection of instagram posts from John Danaher himself. That does not sound very appealing but believe me, this is a must for every jiujitsu/grappling practitioner. Thoughts and advices from the grappling tactic point of view to general life and philosophical aspect, this is a great book to listen to every morning to motivate you. The description of this audiobook is very accurate and I would definitely recommend it.

Simple tips to prevent cognitive decline
Revisado: 01-20-21
This book is suitable for people that are looking for ways to prevent or slow their cognitive decline that is, sometimes, unavoidable with time and aging. Although some of the ways to do that mentioned in this book are not groundbreaking (or something you never heard before), like 8-hours of sleep or eating better, some are new and thought-provoking, Dr. Gupta backs his claims through recent, well understood, scientifically backed data. He, being the narrator, manages to talk to the listener in a way that is straight forward, clear and concise. He gives out what works for him, he disproves many myths and in general, he shares his experiences as a neurosurgeon and a journalist travelling the world and talking to experts in the frontlines of science.
In general, I am happy I heard this book and would recommend to anyone that wants to treat their brain as they treat the rest of their body.

The story of Troy speaks to all of us - the kidnapping of Helen, a queen celebrated for her beauty, sees the Greeks launch a thousand ships against the city of Troy, to which they will lay siege for 10 whole and very bloody years. It is Zeus, the king of the gods, who triggers the war when he asks the Trojan prince Paris to judge the fairest goddess of them all. Aphrodite bribes Paris with the heart of Helen, wife of King Menelaus of the Greeks, and naturally, nature takes its course.

Fry does it again!
Revisado: 11-14-20
One cannot have higher expectations when listening to Stephen Fry and Troy, given his very exciting Mythos and Heroes books. Mr. Fry delivers and exceeds the expectations set by his previous successes in my opinion. His delivery is bar none and his take on the mythology/history is truthful and, for someone that is truly knowledgeable on the subject, his opinion is very much appreciated.
Highly recommended audiobook for everyone!

Historia
Without our realising it, a single, slippery concept has become a secular deity throughout the modern industrial world. We make terrible sacrifices in its name: of our money, our health and our planet. That deity is nature itself. From supermarket shoppers to evolutionary biologists, from atheists to pastors, from Alex Jones to Gwyneth Paltrow, we are all prone to the intuitive faith that life should be lived 'naturally'.

"What is Natural" in a variety of subjects
Revisado: 10-23-20
Very good book that highlights what is considered "natural" in a variety of subjects, from athletics to food to economics. The author does an excellent job is highlighting the historical perspective in each subject and both sides of the arguments. I found myself switching sides on a number of issues and reflected on my views. I concluded that I will insert the word "natural" (the opposite of chemical and artificial) in whatever fits my agenda, which is ultimately what I think the author is trying to portray. Very interesting, thought-provoking and a well written book!

Historia
In 2017, a routine network television investigation led Ronan Farrow to a story only whispered about: one of Hollywood's most powerful producers was a predator, protected by fear, wealth, and a conspiracy of silence. As Farrow drew closer to the truth, shadowy operatives, from high-priced lawyers to elite war-hardened spies, mounted a secret campaign of intimidation, threatening his career, following his every move and weaponizing an account of abuse in his own family.

The story behind the story
Revisado: 10-25-19
Very interesting and detailed first person story from Ronan Farrow on his adventure to expose the monster that was Harvey Weinstein. Very troubling at points and disturbing as Harvey was not the only one doing this and the lengths he took to bury the stories about him and the victims (that were way too many) on how they were ashamed to come out and speak. Caution is needed for sexual abuse victims listening to this story as it may bring memories but this is an extraordinary true story and I would highly recommend to other listeners.
