Historia
Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Revisado: 12-16-18
This is such a delightful book that weaves so many threads together to make this all come together in the end. The characters, the stories of the lost things and the keeper herself is just a wonderful well written storyline. I smiled and quietly pondered at the end...sad that it was over

Historia
Savannah “Van” Leone has loved Peter since the day they met. The problem is, Peter has loved Van’s best friend, Janie, since the moment they met. And now they’re walking down the aisle, with Van standing nearby in a Halloween-orange bridesmaid dress, her smile as hollow as one on a jack-o’-lantern. After the wedding Van drowns her sorrows in Kool-Aid-vodka cocktails and reruns of Rin Tin Tin, and does what any woman in her situation would do: She buys a German Shepherd over the Internet.

Predictable with no substance
Revisado: 01-18-16
I found this book much too shallow with very predictable scenarios that were a little disappointing. Not much depth and though I finished it it wasn't very satisfying. I'm sorry but this isn't for the reader who wants some literary substance.

Decent worthwhile read
Revisado: 06-01-15
Although the storyline is predictable from the start, it has a good plot. There are some good twists and turns. It definitely held my interest but it I knew where it was going all the way through the book. I wasn't a fan of the narrator as I found his Deep South accent annoying...and I am a southerner.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Exceptional book!
Revisado: 02-26-15
I loved this book and was so consumed that I couldn't wait to keep reading through to the end. The characters and the events were so well developed that each twist and each situation was all woven together at the end of the book. It was a riveting read that generated tears, incredulity and an entire gamut of emotions as well as empathy of the hardships endured throughout the book. This is now the best book I have read in the last year. I am a big fan of Kristin Hannah but this one has exceeded all her other ones heretofore. I cannot recommend this book enough!
