Historia
A desperate Kremlin takes advantage of a military crisis in Asia to simultaneously strike into Western Europe and invade east Africa in a bid to occupy three rare Earth mineral mines that will give Russia unprecedented control over the world's hi-tech sector for generations to come. Pitted against the Russians are a Marine lieutenant colonel pulled out of a cushy Pentagon job, a French Special Forces captain and his intelligence operative father, a young Polish partisan fighter, an A-10 Warthog pilot, and the commander of an American tank platoon....

Another Shaara book hit!
Revisado: 09-10-17
If you could sum up The Frozen Hours in three words, what would they be?
You are there.
Who was your favorite character and why?
General Smith. Well developed character. A man of conviction. A warrior. He was the playmaker without whom Chosin would have been another Custer's Last Stand.
Which character – as performed by Paul Michael – was your favorite?
General Smith
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Cry. My father told me of that war. He was there; one of three he fought in. So hard.
Any additional comments?
Jeff Shaara and his father are(were) great story tellers and students of military history. They get events out of the level of news reels and down on the ground where the goats can get to it. Baah..

Historia
In the 18th and early 19th centuries, a Native American empire rose to dominate the fiercely contested lands of the American Southwest, the southern Great Plains, and northern Mexico. This powerful empire, built by the Comanche Indians, eclipsed its various European rivals in military prowess, political prestige, economic power, commercial reach, and cultural influence. Yet, until now, the Comanche empire has gone unrecognized in American history. This compelling and original book uncovers the lost story of the Comanches.

A Story you probably never heard before
Revisado: 09-10-17
Would you try another book from Pekka Hamalainen and/or Carla Mercer-Meyer?
Yes, by Hamalainen. The research and organizational work was impressive.
Who was your favorite character and why?
NA This was more of a historical account.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Carla Mercer-Meyer?
Probably not a historical book. A bit monotone for me. Some of the narration had pauses in the wrong place. It was sort of like there was not enough rehearsal in advance of recording the final product.
Any additional comments?
For anyone interested in the history of the Southwest, this is quite a book.

Using the geo-political and military scenarios described by General Sir John Hackett, former NORTHAG commander and author of World War Three; August 1985, Team Yankee follows the war as seen from the turret of Captain Sean Bannon's tank.

An interesting book in its time.
Revisado: 03-13-17
Any additional comments?
Team Yankee takes place before the fall of the Soviet Union. It was originally published in August 1986. It should be approached as an alternate history book rather than a future scenario type book to enjoy it thoroughly. It is a good war story yarn.
