Excellent follow up from Under the Big Black Sun

I was worried I was getting another version of Under the Big Black Sun. Nope. I was thoroughly taken in by this part 2 of the LA Punk historical record. I was 14 when I was introduced X and the Minute Men by my older brother in 84 and I was immediately sucked into this music scene. Those were the Best times ever.

Amy Schumer is fabulous and so is her story. I recommend this audiobook book for her ability to tell her story honestly and genuinely.

I was thoroughly delighted by this historical document- and I learned so much.
Born in 1970 I reckon I was a little kid when this story began. By 84 I was introduced to X and the Minute men- by the time I graduated high school I was already highly educated in SST bands by my regular trips to the local record store . I flunked out of my first year at Virginia Commonwealth University as I committed myself to attend all bands - X Firehose Meat Puppets- Butthole Surfers- Alternatives-Jesus Lizard- Bad Brains..then HR (God bless Joseph)- and SUBPOP’s Tad! I am grateful for having the opportunity to catch the last days of this epic time. This book was fabulous and creatively orated by its genius authors. Much Respect.

I’m addicted to Court Junkie - there are so many interesting cases that are presented journalistically as in without subjectivity- which is hard to find these days. I’m surprised you haven’t already checked out this awesome podcast.

Tina Fey is a jerk

Would you listen to Bossypants again? Why?

Before listening to this-I thought Tina Fey was going to be funny and likeable-I was wrong. She is a sarastic arrogant jerk. I no longer like her -at all.

What other book might you compare Bossypants to and why?

Amy Poehler's memoir led me to this-Amy is cool

What does Tina Fey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Listening to her story from her own lips allows me not to mistake her rudeness and arrogance as just a poorly narrated story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I HATED it!!

Leah Rocks!!

What did you love best about Troublemaker?

Leah gives an entertaining account of her early life as a teen Scientologist, her start as an actress in LA, and the creepy truth about Scientology. You wont want to stop listening to this funny, honest, and sincere life story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Troublemaker?

I especially enjoyed Leah's accounts of time spent at Tom Cruise's home and his extravagant wedding in Italy. I'll never be able to take him seriously again. He is not as bad as I once thought, he is much worse.

What did you like best about Out Came the Sun? What did you like least?

Mariel Hemingway's narration of her memoir was at first shocking -it sounded as if child was narrating with extreme care of her vocabulary and articulation-I couldn't help but feel she worked very hard to make a perfect book.. I enjoyed most of this book and I especially loved the stories of her family and her childhood. I was less interested in her acting career and began to lose interest as this subject matter took a large chunk of this memoir.

Margot

What aspect of Mariel Hemingway’s performance would you have changed?

I would have reduced significantly her entire acting career

Did Out Came the Sun inspire you to do anything?

Yes-the death of her sister, was an eye opener and an important event to those who have had dysfunctional upbringings

If Mariel actually reads this-please know that I enjoyed her book-despite my criticism
