Historia
Protecting him is my duty, but falling for him could be my undoing. I’ve spent five years burying my past, leaving behind the violence and bloodshed of my former life as a Bratva enforcer. Now, I’m just Luca—the quiet guy who keeps his head down, working security for a professional hockey team. I don’t get close to anyone, and I definitely don’t let anyone get close to me. But then I’m assigned to protect Max Ryan, the team’s star defenseman, and everything changes. He's my obsession. My crush.

Narration made it
Revisado: 03-28-25
A few plot holes but I didn’t come here for a literary masterpiece. It was a very fun listen made infinitely better by narration by 2/3 of the holy trinity of romance narration. Joe Arden and Teddy Hamilton were as flawless as ever.

Historia
After watching my mother succumb to a mysterious illness, I promised myself two things. I'd find the cure for what ravaged her and leave the godforsaken city where she abandoned me. Four years later, I received an acceptance letter from Dracadia University, one of the oldest most prestigious schools in the country. Nestled on a secluded island off the coast of Maine, it's rumored to be haunted by the souls of the mental patients exiled there centuries before, those whose bones are said to make up the island's white sandy shores. And restless ghosts aren't even its most daunting peculiarity.

Changed me
Revisado: 12-13-24
This book was so good I’ve listened to it twice already despite the length. The male narrator in particular has a voice you can fall in love with, and I’d burn the world down for Doctor Death. That said, my only complaint is the ending. After so much build up, it felt rushed and unsatisfying. After investing 18 hours into these characters, I really wanted more time with them at the end. No spoilers but I also hated the last second twist - just felt totally unnecessary. Unless a sequel is coming!

Historia
I am the type of woman who always plays it safe. In my professional life as a public relations "fixer", and in my personal life, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. Really, who needs the wild highs and the I-want-to-die-because-he-left-me lows of a relationship? At least, that's what I thought...until I met HIM. Damian No-Last-Name-Given is sexy as sin, and I'd developed some kind of weird, instant attraction to him the moment he settled his chiseled body next to mine on a flight from London to Los Angeles.

Off-putting
Revisado: 09-28-24
I really wanted to like this one based on the premise, and the plot was actually pretty enjoyable, but the constant overuse of “female” instead of “woman” was extremely off-putting and felt very forced. The narrator for Damian overpronounced just about every word as well, which made the narration feel choppy and it definitely wasn’t something I could get through while relaxing.
I’d say it would probably be worth a read if you can get past the language choice, but maybe not a listen.
