This was to long and too detailed. I think the story would be good, but couldn’t get there through all the detail. An abridged version of this would be better and I rarely buy the abridged. Too long.

Not really worth the time.

The plot was initially intriguing, but went nowhere. There is unsatisfactory resolution and the end though typical left much to be desired. Many of the questions weren’t really answered. The end was so anticlimactic it wasn’t worth the time spent reading. Not recommended.

I feel like the whole book was a set up for the second. No independent plot, zero resolution of anything. Worst Patricia Cornwall so far.

Editing problems

The narration is good and the story is good. However, the editing of the audio is subpar. Phrases repeat and some sections sound like they were recorded in a metal can.

Is this a Reacher?

I very rarely don’t finish a book I start, but I JUST CANT DO IT. This is the most boring book I’ve read in years. Even as an audible which I can sometimes background listen too while doing something else. Not this one! Nothing happens. The characters just putz around. I can’t believe Lee Child wrote this. Please let the next one be better or I quit reading them.

Narrator not so good

I couldn’t connect some of the voices to the characters in my mind. I really didn’t like the narration. 😞

Jumbled

I have joyed this book. But part way through the tracks were mixed and it skipped a section then later went back to the middle part. So it was disconcerting to listen through.

What other book might you compare The President's Pilot to and why?

Any spy, conspiracy book. Less technical than Clancy, but good plot.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Thomas Block?

Anyone but him. His voice was so monotone, I found it difficult to differentiate the characters, and half of them sounded drunk most of the time. Horrible narrating!!!!

Do you think The President's Pilot needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

How could the performance have been better?

I love Jeffery Deaver books, and listen to them on tape a lot. However, this one had so much bachground sound to it, it actually felt like it echoed. I couldn't stand listening to it and bought the digital book instead. Please don't do that again.
