I listened to this the night Leslie passed away.
I immediately became endeared to Leslie and his easy way of story telling. The connection created through his memories drew me in entirely. The honest simplicity and matter of fact approach to sharing his life, both failures and successes, felt like I had sat down with a dear friend.
I am deeply saddened by his sudden death and feel that I have been robbed of a love I had only just discovered.
In the last lines of his book, in the most broken hearted of ironies, he seems to read to us from up yonder. He encourages us that these words are not his last and that he will be with us again in due time.
I look forward to that, Leslie. I really do.

Super fast, somewhat shallow, but one good ride!

This book is immediately compelling. Readers are dropped into be middle of a typical bully and victim situation that suddenly turns deadly. With flash forwards to senate hearings that intrigue the scientist is is all, readers find themselves asking thick questions about he fast plot.
The characters are not fully developed, but we find out just enough to make them rounded and cause us to care for them.
I highly suggest this book for children in fourth through sixth grade. Children in seventh and eighth with lower reading skills may find its content interesting and readable at their level.
