Historia
Never in history, until now, have we been able to hear from so many people around the world who have been brought back from clinical death. Modern medical resuscitation and digital communication have revealed a goldmine of intriguing near-death experiences (NDEs) that show us the character of God. John Burke has spent the last three decades studying the commonalities of more than 1000 NDEs. His investigative journey started as a skeptical agnostic, when his own father was dying from cancer.

This book is so awesome!
It truly conveys a whole new side of Christ Jesus and His understanding and forgiveness
of us humans, who constantly fall short of His wishes.

Very hard to follow.
Revisado: 03-04-24
I found the lectures very hard to follow as at times he seemed to ramble on and get sidetracked. Also at times, I found him hard to understand, but a lot of that was do to the poor quality of the recording.
So sadly, I got very little at all out of this book. I bought two others also, and hope that they are much better.

A great book!
Revisado: 05-23-23
This was a great book to listen to. Very interesting and informative. Sean (the narrator) did an amazing job and has the perfect voice for this type of book. The author did a great job in explaining high-level concepts in a way that was easy to understand.....well, most of the time. haha The second to the last chapter is the only chapter I had trouble following and thought the author lost focus.
But hey, who am I to judge.....

Great book series!
Revisado: 01-17-22
I'll start with the huge FUBAR the author did. Marines ARE NOT soldiers!!! Marines are Marines and the Army are called soldiers!! Major error every time the main character referred to himself and/or his budies as soldiers.
Now then, Ireally enjoyed this book series. The storyline was good and kept moving the story along. It never got hung up in one area two long and got boring. The author did great research in different areas (i.e. weapons, PTSD etc) to make it all sound believable and not forced.
My other complaint is the narrator. While the narrator has a great man's voice, it is very deep and raspy and he has trouble with female voices and making them believable. I've listened to him in other book's and it was the same thing. He certainly doesn't ruin the book; just know that all the females are going to sound like chain smokers.
I will buy more from this author.

Not a bad listen
Revisado: 07-11-21
This was a good series to listen too. I found book 1 very hard to get into for some reason and have started and quit the first book half a dozen times over the last year. I just could not get thru some of the beginning characters. Probably morey issue than the books.
But I'm doing a contract job right now where I am sitting in a truck for 12 hours a day and I said, by God I'm going to start and finish that book if it kills me. Well, I'm still here. All in all, book one was still hard for me to get thru. But I did and in the last 4-5 days I listened to the entire 4 book series. In book 2, I can remember anything specific right now to comment about as the four books have all blended in my head right.now.
However, I feel that book three and book 4 is where the story and characters really take off and come to life. The writer has some great ironies in the last two books that are often unseen and often quote funny in their own right. Over all, well done by the author.
The narrator: the narrator has a very rough and gruff voice that sometimes get old to listen too however, he does a great job with the different characters voices and tonal inflections. So overall, great job for the narrator also.
PS sorry for any typos but I'm writing this on my phone, without glasses, in a truck in the middle of nowhere and now have to find a new series to listen to before I loose my mind. ;)

Historia
Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

A 5 to 1 rating here.
Revisado: 04-14-21
I finally got around to listening to this book and I had high hopes for it. I'm sorry to say, that the narrator of this book ruined it completely! I can't stress that enough. The different voices he used for all of the different characters in this book were just horrible. The narrator should NEVER EVER attempt a southern voice again. That made the book so very painful to listen to. I had to force myself to keep going.
As for the story itself, it was a good storyline and brings out many things that will happen if/when this ever happens to us. It is most definately food for thought, especially for those who have never heard of or studied what an EMP is and what will happen as a result of one.
So I give the story a 5 and the narration a 1.
Is the book worth it, I say yes. Just be ready for some horrific character accents that I feel, takes away from the flow and enjoyment of the book. It's like the narrator was trying to hard and forced the accents.

Historia
In the fall of 1964, an event much stranger than fiction took place in the ruggedly scenic foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in the Tahoe National Forest. Into this remote wilderness stepped 26-year-old Donald Shrum, who planned to enjoy a relaxing weekend hunting deer with his bow and arrows. As he entered the forest, joking and laughing with his two hunting buddies, little did Shrum suspect that shortly he would be locked in the midst of a terrifying 12-hour struggle with alien forces.

Historia
Since his untimely death on June 29, 1978, Bob Crane's unofficial biography has become akin to a broken record. Like a skip in the acetate, his murder and the scandal that grew from it have been the repeated focus of attention, to the exclusion of nearly everything else. Over time, the line between fact and fiction blurred, and his life story became distorted. All perspective on Bob Crane as a human being was lost, and he became nothing more than a two-dimensional cartoon character without depth or understanding.

I'm 50yrs old and have been a Bob Crane fan since I was a kid watching Hogan's Heroes. I still watch the show daily. I've read a lot about Bob over the years on the Internet but nothing like what is in this book. The authors did a remarkable job in their research and finding all of the people in Bob's life to interview. If you want to completely know Bob and understand him, this book is for you.

A great book!
Revisado: 01-19-17
If you loved Bob Crane, then you'll love this book. The first several chapters are about Bob's early life and then his move to CA. His early career and family life are discussed and was enjoyable to learn about. The author, Bob Crane Jr., then goes into his own life which takes up most of the book. He references snippets of his dad in these chapters. Now then, of you are a John Candy fan, you'll further love this book as John Candys life and career are heavily covered in this book as Crane Jr worked for Candy. So it's like getting two books in one. And then at the end of the book, the last chapter or two finish up more with Bob Crane Sr and the trial outcome. The whole book ties together rather nicely and at first I was kind of thinking, I don't want to know this much about Bob Cranes son but it was actually very interesting and I found myself totally involved.
I highly recommend this book. Just go into it knowing what I said about the majority of it.
