I loved everything about this production from start to finish. There are layers and layers of meaningful messages and lessons regarding mental health, Christianity, grief, friendship, honesty and simply being human.

The never-ending background music, noise was an absolute annoyance. I tried listening as long as I could and even fast forwarded in hopes of it finally letting up but it was an exercise in futility.

Ruth Wilson shines!

Wilson's rendering of this classic penned by Poe is truly astounding. She has a way of melding herself together with any role she takes on that blurs the lines between fiction and hearing (or seeing) an actual person retelling their very own experience. I have always enjoyed any reading of this favorite short typically performed by a male but it has never been brought so much to life as it has in this version. Poe and Wilson are a mystical pairing.

Just as other members commented... This is a single episode that left me reeling for more only to be severely let down. My search led me to discover the following...

According to an October 2021 article in The Straits Times written by Ong Sor Fern "The only complaint is that this is only a pilot, not yet a full series. It is one of 10 finalists for Audible's Accelerator programme, supported by the Infocomm Media Development Authority.".

Overall, this is a decent listen though it does seem to be longer than necessary. I found myself having to "rewind" multiple times due to loss of Interest and losing track. Once I finally made it to the point the mystery was revealed, I opted to be done.

The ONLY thing I could do without is the same for every other full cast production... The sloppy kissing sounds. Aside from that I thoroughly enjoyed a dystopian adventure sans zombies and especially appreciated the use of vampires in a way unfamiliar to me. I enjoyed both productions so much!
