Will it ever be over
Revisado: 05-09-25
Well this is the first and last Danielle steel book I will ever waste my valuable time on…thankfully it was free otherwise Iwould be more pissed by wasting countless hours on this steaming pos wondering for the umpteenth time WHEN WILL IT BE OVER..:how many times can you hear about how someone is dressed? Just the endless wardrobe descriptions alone is redundant and boring. Hours wasted. Never again.

Try too hard
Revisado: 02-24-25
This book just didn’t do it for me. It was long and drawn out and at times very confusing and misleading. The whole time listening, I knew there was gna be some “twist” and was trying to figure it out and then when the “twist” came it was very anti climatic and pretty unbelievable. The whole book just felt forced and tried too hard. And the ending still has me confused but I guess that was the point?

Eye-Opening
Revisado: 04-24-24
This book will stay with me for a long time and take some time to really digest. Kristin Hannah is such a skilled author in the way that she creates images in your mind like you are right there with the main character Frankie. Her character development in this novel really makes you feel connected. Can’t say enough about it!

Historia
Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.

Revisado: 07-19-23
Jeez what a disappointment. About 6 hours in and interested in the plot, the “twist” is revealed, and you get to spend the next 8 hours listening to the authors plead their case about their views of the hottest debate in society right now “what is a woman.” I would have stopped listening right then and there but I really was vested in what would happen to the boy on trial. What a waste of time. So if you don’t want the endless trans talking points shoved down your throat, do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time on this garbage.

Historia
Early one morning on the shore of the Thames, DCI Samuel Owusu is called to the scene of a gruesome discovery. When Owusu sends the evidence for examination, he learns the bones are connected to a cold case that left three people dead on the kitchen floor in a Chelsea mansion thirty years ago. Rachel Rimmer has also received a shock—her husband, Michael, has been found dead in the cellar of his house in France. All signs point to an intruder, and the French police need her to come urgently to answer questions about Michael and his past that she very much doesn’t want to answer.

It’s a sequel so be sure you read the first book
Revisado: 09-14-22
When I heard that the family remains was a sequel to the family upstairs, I was disappointed because out of every Lisa Jewell book (I have read every single one) the family upstairs was just not my favorite. I couldn’t understand why she would even need to write a follow up book. So I decided to reread the family upstairs, but this time I listened to the audiobook and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it and understood then why she wrote a follow up book. So it is really important for anyone who wants to enjoy the family remains to read the family upstairs, otherwise this book will make no sense at all.
That being said, the family remains picks up where the family upstairs leaves off. Overall I did enjoy the story, however when reflecting on the ending I’m not sure how believable it was. Everyone wants a happy ending but the way it gets to be is probably unrealistic. Also, I get the dark themes and how it is similiar to the theme of the first book, but I wasn’t a fan of the sexual context, the fagotry, the detective that thinks everyone is racist against him. For the first time, Lisa Jewell’s writing seemed very “woke,” which is a giant let down to someone who’s been a huge fan of hers for the past couple years. And for saying that, I’m sure this review will not be published by audible but it’s the truth so oh well.

Awesome story telling, detailed character development.
Revisado: 01-27-22
I loved this book. The author took such detail and time to develop each character perfectly. It’s a book that offers so much-mystery, sibling rivalry, relationship struggles, tennis- made interesting, even the importance of pets-all happening in modern times. I just really enjoyed all aspects of this book.

Historia
Five-year-old Sloane McBride couldn’t sleep that night. Her parents were arguing again, their harsh words heating the cool autumn air. Then there was that other sound - the ominous thump before all went quiet. In the morning, her mother was gone. The official story was that she left. Her loving, devoted mother! That hadn’t sat any better at the time than it did when Sloane moved out at 18, anxious to leave her Texas hometown in search of anywhere else. But not even a fresh start working as a model in New York could keep the nightmares at bay. Or her fears that her father is deadly.

So long and drawn out.
Revisado: 12-28-21
There are few books that I struggle to get through but this one was definitely the worst. The story could have been told in half the time that it was. I felt like it repeated itself so much. Just all around predicable, boring, and too simple.

Another great one from Lisa Jewell
Revisado: 09-07-21
I recently took a break from Lisa Jewell novels-not because I was sick of her work but because I realized I only have a few books left that I haven’t read and I wanted to stagger them out because I will be really sad the day that I have no more Lisa Jewell to read. That being said, it was like coming home to where I belong. I didn’t think I would like this one as much as I did, but I loved it. The character development was spot on-you will love the main characters and hate the ones who are supposed to be hated. Definetly recommend!

Historia
Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods, on the winding rural road, in the middle of a downpour, with the woman sitting inside - the woman who was killed. She's been trying to put the crime out of her mind; what could she have done, really? It's a dangerous road to be on in the middle of a storm. Her husband would be furious if he knew she'd broken her promise not to take that shortcut home. And she probably would only have been hurt herself if she'd stopped.

Boring and pretty far fetched
Revisado: 03-17-21
I was looking forward to this as I really enjoyed the disturbing book “Behind Closed Doors,” however this book was so drawn out and boring for the first 6 hours I couldn’t wait for it to be over. Way to much time was spent on building up Cass’s paranoia and her “silent caller.” Which if you pay any attention, you can figure out pretty quickly who it is. Once things finally do pick up, it all comes out as a confusing blurt. Overall, I just found the book dull and boring. Disappointed.
