Historia
Midsummer Eve, 1670. Two unexpected visitors arrive at a shabby warehouse on the south side of the River Thames. The first is a wealthy nobleman seeking the lover he deserted 21 years earlier. Now, James Avery has everything to offer: a fortune, a title, and the favor of the newly restored King Charles II. He believes that the warehouse’s poor owner Alinor has the one thing he cannot buy - his son and heir.

Great Follow Up
Revisado: 01-10-21
I was a bit disappointed with the time gap at first. But I got over that pretty quickly. The story is riveting and I honestly can’t wait for the 3rd.

Historia
On Midsummer’s Eve, Alinor waits in the church graveyard, hoping to encounter the ghost of her missing husband and thus confirm his death. Until she can, she is neither maiden nor wife nor widow, living in a perilous limbo. Instead she meets James, a young man on the run. She shows him the secret ways across the treacherous marshy landscape of the Tidelands, not knowing she is leading a spy and an enemy into her life. England is in the grip of a bloody civil war that reaches into the most remote parts of the kingdom.

I need to know the rest
Revisado: 12-09-19
Some of this story is rather predictable, but it doesn’t take away from its quality. It’s riveting and leaves you wanting more. The ending came so abruptly though, unfinished. So I figure there will be another . I surely hope so .

I am in love with this entire series . I felt every emotion through each book right down to the very end. The narrator is superb and the story is just... great.

Historia
In this brilliantly imagined novel, acclaimed author C. W. Gortner brings Catherine to life in her own voice, allowing us to enter the intimate world of a woman whose determination to protect her family’s throne and realm plunged her into a lethal struggle for power. From the fairy-tale chateaux of the Loire Valley to the battlefields of the wars of religion to the mob-filled streets of Paris, this is the extraordinary untold journey of one of the most maligned and misunderstood women ever to be queen.

I'm sorry it was so hard to get through the audio of this book. Great story but terrible narration, her voice was like a kindergarten teacher telling the story of Cinderella .
