Historia
Taking over her parents’ estate-sale business is not the life’s work that Emma Lewis bargained for. Yes, she grew up helping them empty people’s nests, but nothing prepared her for her biggest and stickiest “get”—the grand, beautiful house of ill repute masquerading as a decidedly beddable B and B. Should Emma turn down potential clients in need of decluttering just because they are shady, escort-y, and proud of it?

Just too corny
Revisado: 03-26-25
This one had potential and sounded fun, just never really seemed to launch for me. Was a mix of corny and boring. The narrator was the best part.

Historia
A novel written by Ellie’s first love, Jack Bennett, tells the story of a young man and woman who meet at the water’s edge and fall madly in love, only to have their romance cut short by forces beyond their control. Ellie quickly realizes this is no ordinary story; it’s their story. Captivated by Jack’s words, she immerses herself in the pages, reliving the adventures they shared that magical summer. To her astonishment, hidden among the tales of star-gazing and stolen kisses is a detail that has her questioning everything.

Not the worst love story, but not the best either
Revisado: 02-19-25
Good job setting the story so far back as extraordinary for any women, but still plenty of cringes. It felt a lot like Nicholas Sparks’ Notebook with an actually educated and career minded woman. Just kind of anemic.

High hopes based on description . . .
Revisado: 01-27-25
I loved the overall premise of this woman botanist stepping outside of the confines of society, but the actual story, plot, and characters were just so incredibly blah. I kept on listening hoping for more depth and plot but sadly a rather waste of time. At times the narrator was quite solid, but then would shoot from overly dramatic to completely shrill with the central female characters. It was so bad I had to quickly turn the volume down. Sadly, I would not recommend this one as just a disappointment and at times annoyance.

Historia
Christian’s fed up of being on his own every Christmas. He doesn’t mind being alone, but he hates his family’s sad eyes and soft tones as they sit around coupled up. Because he’s actually, totally, fine. So when Megan literally bumps into Christian in a Dublin pub, they come up with a pact to see them through the holiday season. They’re going to be the very best fake dates for each other, ever. Rules are drawn up, a contract is signed on a wine-stained napkin. They will sit through each other’s family gatherings and be outrageously in love until freed from their annual obligations.

Historia
Alva Smith, her Southern family destitute after the Civil War, married into one of America’s great Gilded Age dynasties: the newly wealthy but socially shunned Vanderbilts. Alva defied convention for women of her time, asserting power within her marriage and becoming a leader in the women's suffrage movement. In A Well-Behaved Woman, Therese Anne Fowler paints a glittering world of enormous wealth contrasted against desperate poverty, of social ambition and social scorn, of friendship and betrayal, and an unforgettable story of a remarkable woman.

Great Story, but So So Narrator

It definitely took a while for me to warm up to this one due to the narrator. Love the character and story though so glad I stuck with it.

Oh my goodness, so boring and simple
Revisado: 11-11-23
I tried to make it through this one thinking hour after hour that it would pick up, but finally had to throw in the towel with less than two hours left as just so incredibly boring. The characters, plot, and narrator were pretty much equal parts dull. Reading the summary and other reviews, I had hopes for a good fun western romance. . . Yet got a totally simple, dull yarn with zero passion or even significant character or plot debt. It felt like a fourth grader wrote it and had her grandmother narrate it. Thank goodness, it was free but still sadly can’t get the time I wasted on it back.
