Filled with boring details and insipid. the original Flashman books are cleverly written and full of adventure and a bit of scandal. This series is like tea made from a tea bag use four times previously.

A few minutes within the first few pages of the book hinted at a scary read. But it dropped like a stone and was boring, read in a dull voice.
Stopped reading during the first 3rd of the book and returned it.

The story started off a bit boring, too much useless detail. Never really took off and I finally gave up on it I didn't finish.

Female narrators often become a bit screechy trying to read exciting parts.
The main character is a woman. That's about all that was accomplished in this book.

Still, it's a Patterson and worth the time even if it isn't one of his best.

The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

The storyline had every promise of being charming. And I wasn't joining it until the language took a sudden downward turn. It is unnecessary to fill a story with F Bombs.
The gutter language just ruined the story.

I'm sure the story would have been excellent.

Having watched the Longmire series, I was anxious to read some of the books.
The narrator is killing the story. I found the voice too low to understand, missing some of the words because of the depth and gravelly effect of the voice.
Long-term, could not listen to that interpretation.
