Historia
Come inside a jury room as one juror leads a starkly divided room to consensus. Join a young CIA officer as he recruits a reluctant foreign agent. And sit with an accomplished surgeon as he tries, and fails, to convince yet another cancer patient to opt for the less risky course of treatment. In Supercommunicators, Charles Duhigg blends deep research and his trademark storytelling skills to show how we can all learn to identify and leverage the hidden layers that lurk beneath every conversation.

Good for basics
Revisado: 03-06-25
The anecdotal information was less hopeful for the reader than the science. One example would be him using the writers of big bang theory instead of staying grounded. It’s the difference between a writer by trade and someone with expertise in the subject matter imo

Historia
Recent years have seen an explosion of interest in and interpretation of the U.S. Constitution. Its authority and stature are routinely invoked by voices from every point on the political spectrum, with frequent references to the Founding Fathers and their true "intent." What really was their true intent? As these 12 surprising lectures show, many of those Founding Fathers-including Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry-were highly critical of the new Constitution and staunchly opposed it when it was first put forth for ratification by the states as a replacement for the Articles of Confederation.

I really enjoyed this as someone who is ignorant of the facts behind the myths of America, it's founding fathers and the constitution. it is an excellent course and sheds light on some longstanding issues with the US government.

This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

mediocre at best
Revisado: 05-15-18
the person who recommended this book to me said that it was as if Shakespeare wrote Game of Thrones. Having listened to the entire 20 + hours I am not quite clear why they thought it was close to Shakespeare nor Game of Thrones. The narrator was very good and I applaud him. The writing however, although smooth, does not make for a good story. I'm not quite sure the one single story that the author was trying to get across because there seem to be like four different stories going on at any one time, but not in a complicated seamless type of way. it seemed to just follow the antics and self-absorption of one main character and his clothes along the way during his college Years and while he was in poverished. Other than that, there doesn't seem to be a a necessary or relevant through thread that makes all the reading or listening worth it.

I can listen to Walt's character ramble all day
Revisado: 12-14-17
to be completely honest, I had some difficulty following the story during my commute. however, it is a mystery, so it's supposed to be a little difficult.
but all things considered, I enjoyed it much like I enjoy the show on Netflix. walt is a fascinating character and the setting of the story is equally interesting. i just hope the series gets a movie too.

Historia
Eerie, dreamlike, set in a world that is weirdly related to our own, The Gunslinger introduces Roland Deschain of Gilead, of In-World that was, as he pursues his enigmatic antagonist to the mountains that separate the desert from the Western Sea in the first volume of The Dark Tower series. Roland, the last gunslinger, is a solitary figure, perhaps accursed, who with a strange single-mindedness traverses an exhausted, almost timeless landscape of good and evil.

To be an Enduring Audible Classic
Revisado: 11-14-17
There are few audio books where the narrator harmonizes with the story so well as George Guidall does with Stephen King's "The Gunslinger". After having read and listened to several of Stephen King's books, this one actually lives up to or exceeds the hype we've come to associate with Stephen King. Additionally, the story begins with one of the most epic lines ever, which I will leave you to hear for yourself.
Again, I cannot speak will enough of the narrator. After listening, I was so disappointed to discover that he did not go on to do the other books. Though the succeeding narrator did fine, he simply stood in the shadow of his predecessor.

excited about biographies
Revisado: 10-08-17
This is one of if not the only biography I have read about a modern subject. It was a great choice. The tale of this titan of tech and enterprise is a worthy consideration who appreciates where real world innovation and sci-fi meet. Also, the author seems to honestly depict the good, bad, and ugly of Musk's successes and failures.

this book is an amazing survey of American philosophy told through the personal story of an academic. I would recommend this for anybody wanting to know more about both philosophy and who desires an interesting read. I might be inclined to say that this is possibly the best book I've ever listened to on Audible

It was free
Revisado: 07-11-17
These performances were not the worst I've heard from these comedians, which is because these performances were based on other people's material. Though there are many abstract things said to be free in life, such as love, happiness, and liberty; I did in fact discover that my time is indeed more valuable than this free recording. At the end of the day, I know that I'll never get my time back, but at least I was washing dishes while it was playing in the background. The soapy water that splashed in my eyes and sound of the running water from the faucet helped drown the recording into the background. Carpi Diem!

Historia
One of the most revered works in English literature, Great Expectations traces the coming of age of a young orphan, Pip, from a boy of shallow aspirations into a man of maturity. From the chilling opening confrontation with an escaped convict to the grand but eerily disheveled estate of bitter old Miss Havisham, all is not what it seems in Dickens’ dark tale of false illusions and thwarted desire.

Revisado: 07-01-17
this review is subjective in that I believe I would have gotten more out of the experience had I read the book rather than listened. the story and characters are well written and possess significant depth. The performance of the narrator was perfect considering the tone of the source material.
