Fun listen but the world building, yikes

I enjoyed this experience, especially at first, but the author has a lot more imagination about fanciful things than interest in having them make any sense. It was often like listening to a small child's story. There are so many ways that this universe doesn't make any sense that it distracts from the story. I finally gave up.

More middle school romance than anything else

I couldn't get through it. So much time is spent in the main characters head interpreting the flirting, looks, and emotions of everyone around her that it's hard to take any of it seriously. I am not sure you can be in danger and thinking how sexy your girlfriend is at the same time every time as she looks at you. Meh.

Great story, unusual style

I wasn't sure what to expect when I purchased this story. the title seemed to indicate that it was more of a serial than a novel, and as I listened, I found it to be true. The performances were good, although I could have done without some of the stereotype affectations. I did get used to those affectations and it became a part of the story.
I think that the format of this story felt like I was reading an HBO series rather than a novel. In this case, it worked well. I just purchased season 2, and I will be listening on my drive home today.
