Suspenseful and beautifully written. A hero who never lets you down. The performance was easy to listen to and never annoying. Loved the story, loved the ending.

My gosh this is a long book. Not Atlas Shrugged or War and Peace long, but overly wordy/ unedited long. Spoiler alert: kids get killed in nasty ways. It’s violent. Also doesn’t make sense at times. Details superfluous at so many junctions. It’s a weird story of 11 year old boys trying to kill the undead. I know we all like different books but giving this 5 stars is a stretch. There are some truly great 5 star books. This is not one of them.

Very good story. Ruined by the abrupt and unfinished ending. There should have been another chapter.

Interesting, worth a listen. Medicine practiced on a shoestring in a remote Eskimo town. Wish he said what happened to the dog he tried to save. Lots of conflicts with administrators and others, bits of whining, so not all medical.

This books is about 75% history according the author, based on Martha’s actual diary, or day book as it was called. It’s lovely, sometimes frightful, but charming. Justice is not often afforded to women in 1790. Loved this book. Well written and well narrated.

As a reader I’ve enjoyed some of his books. Not this one. The writing is overwrought, the book is unnecessarily crude , and the plot is a mish mash of a virus (plausible) and some kind of dark being and weird dreams that combine science run amok with science fiction. No relation to each other in this story and it adds nothing. Like he couldn’t choose what direction to go. And if you can stand listening to “baby can you did your man” a hundred times over (it’s a song line) then you have more patience than me. The book would be reduced by quite a bit without the repeats of multiple scenarios, lines and useless trivial minutiae. Ugh. This book was too long the first time around. The cuts added back in add nothing.

Fun story with characters that you can’t decide if you love or hate. Witty, well written. Nice narration. Loved.

The story is implausible and the writing is awful. Lines like, “Angie picked up a potato. “Valerie also picked up a potato.” A co-worker shows up at your door after midnight, torn pantyhose, scraped knees, wet and tear-stained, and of course you ask “are you ok?” Did you know that in Valdez, Alaska it can snow for three days in a row and that’s a major event? Haha. This book is so bad that it makes a person wonder how it ever got published. If you enjoy leaps of faith, ridiculous dialogue and lack of research, this book is for you.

Loved this. Reveals that truth is stranger than fiction. Relates such detail about the trip to the west and about the native Americans and the hardships.

Believable story, excellent narration, likable characters. Binge listened until it was finished. Great story of two young people whose lives intertwine to enact justice and solve a mystery.
