Favorite book.

I've been listening to this story since it was being read by Agro Squirrel on YouTube. It is a delightful story that keeps you engaged with a massive overworld plot that let's the various stories of the individual characters get told in an expose that shows all the characters are just as important.

This series keeps me entertained from start to finish. I seriously wish there were 20 more books in it.

Right book wrong narrator....

So the books are fun but the reader is not it. First a male reader for a female main doesn't work at least not in this instance. First the female character doesn't sound female at all. The main male leads do not sound different enough, which makes it more of a challenge to pay attention to. As an example one is French and another is Ukrainian yet they don't sound any different. When he does put an accent in it slips within a few sentences. He also has an issue with his flow.

I enjoyed it well enough but it feels unfinished. I really want to know if everything worked out. The reader did a great job and I never felt bored even during some of the slower parts. If the story had an end my rating would be higher.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If it was actually a new take on the same story from a male point of view.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The end of the book explained a bit more about the Volturi and background stuff. Also it allowed the victim to become a vampire first book instead of waiting 4 books. Tho I did enjoy the other 3 books of the original series.

Any additional comments?

This was laziness and makes me ( a long time fan) disappointed in Stephenie Meyer. It seems like a way to get a few more bucks out of die hard fans and slap them in the face. This is not a book worth reading. Almost every line is the same as the original Twilight. Seriously you think that a teenage boy thinks the same in any way as a girl? I can not communicate how disappointed I am with Stephenie Meyers. She has promised more books in the Host series she mentioned she may finish Midnight Sun she hasn't put anything out in YEARS then she makes this big announcement about a ten year book and its this piece of crap? And trust me it takes a lot for me to call a book crap.

So Disappointed

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Not many. If you enjoyed the first two books in the series then this one doesn't really compare, It doesn't even feel as tho it is part of the same series except that you have the same characters.

Has Allegiant turned you off from other books in this genre?

No tho it may turn me off to reading other books by Roth.

Have you listened to any of Emma Galvin and Aaron Stanford ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Only in this series. I am not a huge fan of Emma's voice but she did pull off the teen "tone"

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Honestly I can usually find something in a book or even movie to say well it was cheesy but I liked such and such. That is not the case in this book. You know how you get a new book you start listening to it and if time allows (and its a good book) you don't turn it off. You lose sleep listening to it. Well this book I could only listen to for an hour or so at a time. Then I would turn it off watch tv or even another book. It was like I had a filler book. "Well if I don't have anything better to do I guess I can listen for a bit." So sad because I adored the first book so much for the last one to be so bad.

Book was fine but performance was awful.

What did you like about this audiobook?

Ed Westwick did a great job really pulling you into the book. The story was entertaining just as the others written in this series.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

I feel like my 11 year old is reading this book. The parts read by Ed Westwick are fantastic but the parts read by Molly are bad, really bad. I have no idea why they would replace the original reader with this girl. She paused in the wrong spots and then would read faster in others. Also the sound was off you would get use to the volume of the male, then the girl would come on, and you had to turn down the volume. The story was just as good as the other books but I had to go purchase the book because of the performance.

One of my fav DR Who books!!

If you could sum up Doctor Who: The Angel's Kiss in three words, what would they be?

It was very refreshing having River tell the story. Though it is not the book that the Doctor was reading in the TV show Angels take Manhattan it is more of a prequel to it, I would love to see more books written from her prospective. All of the dates, where your curiosity is peeked but they never reveal the secret. I mean who wouldn't want to know more about Jimmy the Fish. It could be released as her journal of sorts. Without of course, allowing there to be to many spoilers to be released as to not ruin the tv show.

What did you like best about this story?

Her point of view. It was so sexy without being slutty. As the DR is very non sexual in most cases, some of his best parts are when he is in a sexual situation, it was very refreshing to see her so full of sexual energy and to use it to her advantage. Not saying this book as any sex in it because it doesn't but I can certainly see why the doctor said Yowzah while reading it!

What about Alex Kingston’s performance did you like?

She played it brilliantly as she always does. Again if more books written by River/Melody Alex should certainly be the one who reads them. Anyone else would just ruin it.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

To short to make a movie out of

I really do think that they should make more books along these lines. Let her finish out the angels bit ending with Rory and Amy being gone. Then start out a new adventure all of the fun things she does when she is with or without the doctor. We really do not see enough of the doctors wife on the TV show so it is nice to read more about her between shows.
