Historia
From Atlanta's wealthiest suburbs to its stark inner-city housing projects, a killer has crossed the boundaries of wealth and race. And the people who are chasing him must cross those boundaries, too. Among them is Michael Ormewood, a veteran detective whose marriage is hanging by a thread and whose arrogance and explosive temper are threatening his career. And Angie Polaski, a beautiful vice cop who was once Michael's lover before she became his enemy.

how you can give this 5 stars is beyond me.
Revisado: 02-01-25
the story just drug on for no reason. it was as if she was given a word minimum and she just added useless descriptions and stories to fill that minimum.
the ending was realized about 1/4 of the way into the book. and the gbi agent, that this series gets its name from, is so inept it's infuriating. all of the evidence pointed in the same direction, and all the other detectives picked up on it and he argued with them. I don't know how I made it through this story.
the narrator did ok, I really didn't mind the narration. however his "southern accent" was off. and it was the same voice for all characters, but overall he did a good job.
and lastly, I don't know when she wrote this book, but I don't even remember the last time the falcons even came close to a Superbowl spot.

Historia
A murder victim dumped at the dead end of a lonely country road, face and hands obliterated by a shotgun blast, is not the way sheriff’s detective Nick Fourcade wants to start his week. His only lead takes him to the family of a hometown hero suddenly gone missing. Marc Mercier left his home for a weekend hunting trip and hasn’t been seen since.

Predictable
Revisado: 11-12-24
starting with the performance, it was ok. I like Hillary Huber, but this storyline had me irritated at her mispronounced words (there's not a person alive that doesn't know that's not how you say "Lafayette").
the story was meh. I figured everything out about half way through. and I feel like there's was just too many plots to keep trying to weave them together and it just didn't work for me.

I hated this book
Revisado: 10-17-24
I hated this book. it's really well written. the story will make you feel things deeply. I have a little boy the age of the victim of this book. I had to make myself read it. I cried all the way through. it's really good, but I hated it and this will be another book that will live with me forever. read it, you won't be disappointed.

Historia
Skelm Island, Maine, has always been known for two things: lobsters and its broken lighthouse. But when corpses start showing up in the water, the isolated town becomes the face of a cryptic investigation. At the heart of which stands Lincoln Porter, a grumpy ex-SEAL whose lobstering business seems to attract more dead bodies than fish. When homicide expert Detective Sloane is called in to assist with the case, she begins digging up skeletons; ones that Lincoln would rather stay buried.

predictable
Revisado: 08-09-24
The "romance" (basically just smut, and if that's what you like, no judgement) was cringe. The "mystery" was obvious. and the story was so slow... Why would detectives stay in the home of a person of interest? What partner is going to allow the other to go anywhere remote and isolated alone with a person of interest for days with no communication? And since when did law enforcement allow civilians to dictate where they could go and who they could talk to? And I just couldn't like any of the characters.

terrible narrator
Revisado: 08-17-19
I don't usually return a book. however, it was a struggle to hang in to the end with this narrator. I don't remember half the book, because of the distraction of having to see past the terrible narrator. he kind of adopted and lost a British accent of sorts a few times. there was no pause between sections of chapters making it hard to delineate between who was talking. overall disappointed.

When she was sixteen years old, Angela Wong—one of the most popular girls in school—disappeared without a trace. Nobody ever suspected that her best friend, Georgina Shaw, now an executive and rising star at her Seattle pharmaceutical company, was involved in any way. Certainly not Kaiser Brody, who was close with both girls back in high school.

Historia
There is a serial killer on the loose preying on vulnerable women. The only identifiable mark the killer leaves are letters - sometimes one, sometimes two - all carved into the torsos of his victims. Together, they spell “Sydney”. When he grabs Daisy Dawson, he believes he has found his next victim. But despite her small stature, she fights back with an expertise that quickly frees her. Before fleeing the scene, Daisy also manages to grab what proves to be crucial evidence: a necklace from around the killer’s neck.

Narrator made the characters sound elderly
Revisado: 02-28-19
The storyline is amazing! The dialogue is awesome. The narrator protrayal is horrible. He has so far made every character sound elderly. I'm honestly considering getting my credit back based solely on the narrator.

What was that?
Revisado: 10-22-18
I got this book as part of the 2 for 1 credit sale. I can not believe I wasted a credit on this. The narrator read this like it was an action novel or something. Just weird emphasis of words. I'm not a "romance novel" fan, at all. I really don't think this qualifies as romance. Just pornography described. It was horrible.

I enjoyed the book
Revisado: 05-13-18
I really enjoyed the book. I felt like the narrator could have not tried to do the make voices, but it didn't bother me enough to stop listening. The story was intriguing, kept me wishing I could just sit and listen all day till I finished.
