Historia
Terrorists have shot down a British helicopter in West Africa and taken the crew hostage. Their lives are on the line and the British government is refusing to negotiate. The pilot is Liam Shepherd, and only his father - Dan 'Spider' Shepherd of MI5 - can help. Shepherd and an SAS team fly out to the badlands of Mali to rescue the kidnapped Brits. But the mission takes Shepherd away from an investigation in a high security prison that is about to explode into violence. Hundreds of lives are at risk, and Shepherd is running out of time.

Well worth a listen, the reader is up on his game as per usual and the multi-threaded story line entertaining. Well worth the listen for Spider Shepherd fans.

Historia
In the boot were six homemade pipe bombs, all linked to detonate at the same time from a single call on a brand-new pay-as-you-go phone found on the target. Special Branch also found Chinese Type 56 assault rifles with eight full magazines of ammunition. His target was a local school. He planned to attack two coaches of teenagers returning home after a school trip to France. Approximately 60 children, their accompanying teachers and their waiting parents. He was going to kill them all.

What you don’t read about
Revisado: 01-12-23
This book is an interesting peak behind the curtain of the security services from a personal perspective. How one gets there, some idea of what they do, the horrid personal cost, the value of family. Definitely worth the listen or read, the behind the news view.

A complex and compelling story line
Revisado: 06-02-22
I have listened to this audiobook for the 3rd time and am still thoroughly taken with the intricate weaving of numerous story lines and characters which are seemingly unrelated at the outset, diverge, converge and interact throughout. Information about the other characters falling into place in the story arch of another. Thoroughly recommended and entertaining.

Much more than I expected
Revisado: 01-09-22
The telling of the events of this incident and it’s consequences both globally and in the personal lives of so many is what I wish journalism would be. It’s thought provoking and balanced, mostly it’s interesting not only in content but also in where one is lead in terms of examining one’s own reaction to what is learnt. I would hope that this style of deep unpacking would be applied more often and to more news events of the past.

Movie in your ears
Revisado: 12-11-21
I don’t normally bother with these reviews but this production was something else, more like a movie in your ears than anything I have heard for 30 years, not since the last of the radio plays. The story was strong, multidimensional and action packed, hard to put down. The performance’s where excellent. It’s going to be hard going back to a voice reading a book, even Jack Reacher read by Jeff Harding falls flat against this multidimensional production. Treat yourself, it’s a movie in your head and ears, give your eyes a rest and enjoy, and, I dare you to try and fall asleep, not going to happen.
