Historia
From Italy in 1733 to Edinburgh in 1831 to a series of chilling murders in London in 1870 and a lethal game of revenge decades later, a watch touches lives with misfortune - until it comes into the hands of one young woman who might be able to stop it for good. This outstanding collaboration between four outstanding novelists follows characters who are irrevocably linked by fate, each one playing a key role in breaking the curse once and for all.

Enjoyable Story
Revisado: 04-20-20
Bethany Tales is an interesting interpretation of stories in the Bible. Although it’s not strictly biblical, the author lets you know this before the story begins. I enjoyed how the author brought the characters alive and managed to make them feel like real people.

Historia
London, November 3, 1881. A young woman slips through the curtains of fog down Pendy Corner to the 26th house in the row. She vacillates at the gate. For, past that sullen door, she must seek the help of the distinctively eccentric and impatient young language expert named Basil Collingwood. The fate of Europe, and indeed, the free peoples of the world may depend upon getting him to understand her. The only trouble? She cannot speak a word.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed ‘The Mute of Pendywick Place: And the Torn Page’. I was drawn into the story immediately, and disappointed when it suddenly finished too soon!
I can’t for book 2 in this series, so I can spend more time with these characters.

Historia
The town of Foster has always existed under a shroud of mystery and suspicion, relegated to the depths of local superstitions and legend. Many years later, one man becomes increasingly obsessed with the town of Foster and with the fate of its occupants. What could have happened and who or what might be responsible?

Short, creepy story
Revisado: 03-11-20
This story is about a man that has a growing obsession with an abandoned town. He wants to figure out out what exactly happened.
I liked how this story got straight to the point instead adding useless words to extend the book. It had a great build up and ending.

Historia
If Indiana Jones lived in the X-Files era, he might bear at least a passing resemblance to Nolan Moore - a rogue archaeologist hosting a documentary series derisively dismissed by the "real" experts, but beloved by conspiracy theorists. Nolan sets out to retrace the steps of an explorer from 1909 who claimed to have discovered a mysterious cavern high up in the ancient rock of the Grand Canyon. And, for once, he may have actually found what he seeks. Then the trip takes a nasty turn, and the cave begins turning against them in mysterious ways.

I tried to finish this book, but I couldn’t do it. It left me feeling dirty. The story was mostly about affairs, incest, and rape. 🤢
The narrator had a breathy weird voice throughout the book.

Just no. I really, really wanted to like this book. I loved the concept of it, but I was extremely let down. The main character is stupid, self-centered, and an all around unlikable girl. I couldn’t finish it.

Entertaining and creepy
Revisado: 10-25-19
Sara’s sister, Becca, has been missing for a year after searching for a little girl named Lucy. Local legend is Lucy ran into the woods one day decades earlier and never returned. Sara has isolated herself from everyone in her life and becomes obsessed with research on Lucy. On the one year anniversary, Sara is going to search for Becca. Her old friends insert themselves into her plans, and it’s all creepy, crazy from there. Pretty good stuff!
It’s written as a testimony of the past events, which I normally don’t care for at all. However, it worked perfectly for this book.
I’ll definitely listen to this book again. The narrators did a great job holding your attention. I was never bored.
