Historia
In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump and many around him, including certain other elected Republican officials, intentionally breached their oath to the Constitution: they ignored the rulings of dozens of courts, plotted to overturn a lawful election, and provoked a violent attack on our Capitol.

Liz Cheney - a role model for all of us
Revisado: 12-16-23
Regardless of one’s political affiliation, it is impossible to listen to this book, and not come away with a deep and abiding respect and admiration for its author. It is my hope that every American listen to her very wise and reasoned words and heed her warning.

We often struggle to let some people go, especially when they made that decision. We question the universe, we question ourselves, and we question everyone around us but we never truly get our answers. Letting someone go takes time, patience, and commitment to actively stop ourselves from relapsing and thinking about that person again. The Art of Letting Go helps you understand why, how, and when you should let someone go so you can move on and never look back.

Terrible narration
Revisado: 11-27-23
The automated voice of the self check out at the supermarket is less annoying than the narrator of this book. I’m sure it has some helpful, although trite, information; however, I couldn’t stand to listen to it long enough to get anything out of it because of the narrator.

Historia
You picked up this book because your breakup has been reduced to something that you feel you must “win” to emotionally survive and move on. This reduction can only take place if you were involved with a toxic person. Toxic people are selfish, empathetically bankrupt, and have a limited relationship with reality. Anyone who feels validated by exploiting your hunger for theirs is toxic - to your peace, your life, and your mental health.

Hands down, the most empowering book I have ever read
Revisado: 06-16-23
For years, I read every kind of self-help book available by so-called experts. While all of them had good advice and helpful information, none of them were as straightforward and honest as this book is. I put myself on a 90 day self imposed break from my toxic relationship and focus solely on what Natasha advises in this book. I will tell you that my life today is so much better and infinitely different than it was before I found this book. It’s been hard, but I was able to finally end a toxic relationship that I had been in for over 50 years. Yes, I am still tempted to run back to him. Yes, I have days where I miss him. However, when those things happen, I either pick up my hardcopy of the book or I listen to chapters from the audiobook and I’m able to get through the situation without once again, humiliating myself and having my heart broken.

If you do the work, this book will help you
Revisado: 02-12-23
First, let me say that this book is written to address, traditional, male, female relationships. If you are in that type of relationship and you either suspect it is ending, or it has already ended, reading this book will help you. It is very straight forward, and includes some not so easy to listen to truths. The biggest of those is, relationships do not last forever. So eventually, you are going to have to go through a break up. With the help of this book, you can come to see that even a break up that you didn’t want, Ken be good for you. I strongly suggest doing the exercises, although most people probably won’t. It is very time consuming, and it brings up a lot of emotional issues. However, I assure you that, if you do the work, you are going to feel much better about your situation. Even if you don’t do the exercises, this book is just good, practical validation of what people experience when relationships end.

William, moving narration of a heartbreaking tragedy
Revisado: 03-27-21
The author does an amazing job of reading this book and bringing the story to life. It is painful, even grueling, to listen to; however, regardless of your stance on immigration across the southern border, you need to listen to this to understand one of the most painful perspectives of this complex issue.

Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.

Thorough, thoughtful, in-depth examination of Kent state
Revisado: 03-16-21
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Not only does it provide an in-depth look at the tragedy at Kent State, it does so in the context of the times in which it occurred. It is well researched and the ending provides a very good analysis of the event as well as The many repercussions.

Historia
There just isn't enough time for everything on our to-do list - and there never will be. Successful people don't try to do everything. They learn to focus on the most important tasks and make sure those get done. They eat their frogs. There's an old saying that if the first thing you do each morning is eat a live frog, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you're done with the worst thing you'll have to do all day. For Tracy, eating a frog is a metaphor for tackling your most challenging task - but also the one that can have the greatest positive impact on your life.

This is a trite repetition of the intuitively obvious. Although this book claims to address procrastination, it does not. However, it does tell you to write down your goals, break them down into reasonable chunks, and execute one step at a time.

Brilliantly executed and compulsively listenable, Unsheltered is the story of two families, in two centuries, who live at the corner of Sixth and Plum, as they navigate the challenges of surviving a world in the throes of major cultural shifts. In this mesmerizing story told in alternating chapters, Willa and Thatcher come to realize that though the future is uncertain, even unnerving, shelter can be found in the bonds of kindred - whether family or friends - and in the strength of the human spirit.

An OK story with terrible narration
Revisado: 02-22-21
I picked up this book because it takes place in the town where I grew up. While it is moderately interesting, there’s nothing special about the writing or the storyline. I would definitely recommend getting the text version versus the audio edition of this book. The author’s reading of the story is terrible. She completely misses the Jersey accent. Worse yet, every voice she does sounds like a mixture of Southern plus Minnesota. It was extremely difficult to listen to. In fact, were the accents and voices done differently, I probably would’ve enjoyed the book much more.

Generic historical fiction
Revisado: 02-19-21
Although the main character is of interest historically, there is nothing either exceptionally good or bad about this book. I do commend the author for researching an historic figure from South Carolina; However, the reader should be warned that this book does romanticizes the relationship between master and slave. Such was not always the case.
