The lecturer tries to appear neutral, but especially toward the end, he becomes a hardcore apologist for the Catholic church. The purpose of the whole lecture is just to defend the torture and murder of the Inquisition and downplay anything negative. The lecturer seems to think it was okay to torture and kill those "stubborn and rebellious" people who refused to believe in Catholicism. Truly sick. This shouldn't be called "Modern Scholar." It should be called "Modern Catholic Apologist."

It's a great irony that Israel was more secure as an idea than its ever been as a nation with an army. In AD 70, when the Second Temple was destroyed, a handful of visionaries saved Judaism by reinventing it - by taking what had been a national religion, identified with a particular place, and turning it into an idea. Jews no longer needed Jerusalem to be Jews.

What did you love best about Israel Is Real?
Great overview of the post-biblical history of the Jews and the nation of Israel.
Have you listened to any of Jonathan Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I also loved his narration of Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World. He did a great job on both.

I loved this course, but I really wish they would produce Phase 2. Hungarian is a very difficult language, and this audio course makes it much easier.

This is by far the worst book I have ever downloaded. This book is nothing but meaningless blather. I was hoping to learn something, and I kept waiting for the book to get better. It got worse. Here's a tip for the author: have a point!

Would you listen to Blood Feud again? Why?
I'm planning to listen to it a second time. The fact that the book reads like a biography made it very entertaining. This is a pretty damning indictment of big pharma and the medical industry. The love of money is the root of all evil. I wish more Americans would be aware of the info in this book.

The section on Katorga is one of the best parts of the whole book. Some of my favorite chapters are "the committed escaper" and "the white kitten"
