Historia
Winter lasts most of the year at the edge of the Russian wilderness, and in the long nights, Vasilisa and her siblings love to gather by the fire to listen to their nurse’s fairy tales. Above all, Vasya loves the story of Frost, the blue-eyed winter demon. Wise Russians fear him, for he claims unwary souls, and they honor the spirits that protect their homes from evil. Then Vasya’s widowed father brings home a new wife from Moscow. Fiercely devout, Vasya’s stepmother forbids her family from honoring their household spirits, but Vasya fears what this may bring.

Awful and boring!
Revisado: 01-27-20
This book is just plain weird. I could have missed something when I dozed off. An odd story and an odd telling of a story. A little confusing for me to follow along about Russian fairy tales. The narrator is the only good thing about the book. This book has a lot of great reviews but I thought it was boring. So much so I didn't bother to finish it.

Historia
Audrina James was only trying to stop the old brooch from being stolen; she didn’t know that touching it would send her back in time to medieval Scotland! But the brooch belonged to Audrina’s ancestor, a woman who died tragically on her wedding night and swore to her last breath that she would be reunited with her true love - and Audrina is her mirror image. It’s been one year to the day since Colin MacLaren’s bride suffered and died at the whim of a bloody-handed English occupier. So how is she standing before him?

Not one of my favorite listens
Revisado: 12-03-19
The narrator had a very old voice. He just didn't do justice to the story. The story "might" have been more interesting with a different narrator.

We continue the tale of Ross and Demelza; of the wayward Valentine Warleggan, whose existence keeps open the old wounds of the feud between Ross and George; of Bella, the Poldarks' youngest daughter, whose precocious talent as a singer is encouraged by her old flame, Christopher Havergal, and by a distinguished French conductor who has more in mind than Bella's music; of Clowance, the Poldarks' widowed daughter, who considers remarriage to one of two rival suitors; and of a murderer who stalks the villages of West Cornwall.

Revisado: 11-24-19
I just finished the last in Poldark books. I have read, watched, or listened to all twelve. The narrator of the books Oliver Hembrough is exceptional. I wish there were more Poldark books. Thank you Masterpiece Theater for opening my eyes to Poldark.

Very good crime mystery
Revisado: 08-05-18
I live in Maine so I have to criticize the narrators and their terrible attempts at a Downeast Maine accent. Their accents sounded like a cross between a New Jersey/New York/Boston accent. They would have been better off to use no accent at all. Because of their terrible attempt at a Maine accent they were irritating to listen to (especially the Kim accent). Having said that, the story itself kept my interest from beginning to end. Some very interesting twists and turns and a few surprises. Just when you think the prime witness is actually telling the truth the author casts doubt on her version of what happened. I commend the author for referencing actual places in Maine.

Historia
Diana Gabaldon's fans will be delighted to find Jamie and Claire as spirited and endearing as ever in this fourth installment of this magnificent saga. Twice Claire has used an ancient stone circle to travel back to the 18th century. The first time she found love with a Scottish warrior but had to return to the 1940s to save their unborn child. The second time she reunited with her lost love but had to leave behind the daughter that he would never see. Now Brianna, from her 1960s vantage point, has found a disturbing obituary and will risk everything in an attempt to change history.

Davina Porter is not my favorite narrator
Revisado: 04-01-18
My audio of Drums in Autumn quit at chapter 38 so I finished with reading the book. This book is very long and was full of disappointments for me as far as the story line goes. LOTS happened to poor Roger. Poor Brianna. Diana Gabaldon sure gave her a lot of unpleasantness. Sometimes in telling her stories, Diana Gabaldon writes too much as she did in this book. Overkill. This was not my favorite Outlander book. I read books 1-3. Davina Porter is not my favorite narrator. Book 5 I will definitely read in print.

Revisado: 06-04-17
For me this is a hard book to review. One minute I liked it and the next minute I hated it. I think the author set the tone when she introduced Edeline as a spoiled, childish, rich brat with violent fits of temper. I immediately disliked her. The bantering between Angus and Edeline got old.The novel takes place before the War of Independence. I did like the historical references to Boston and Williamsburg. It was an okay book.

She looks forward to her nights spent with him, but when she starts to hear his voice in the winds around Cagair Castle, she can't help but wonder if he's more than a figment of her imagination.

Very nice story
Revisado: 05-29-17
I think I would have enjoyed this book more had it been narrated by a male. Lily Collingwood was okay but just did not do justice to my image of Orrick. This book interested me because I have recurring dreams of an unknown man. I dream him as if I am my younger self,
This was a nice story of time travel. I enjoyed it.
