Absolutely Incredible Next Installment
Revisado: 04-15-25
I am a huge fan of Cassandra's work, but this is my favorite of hers so far! I love the characters and their individual adventures and challenges, and how all the stories overlap and intertwine. I can't wait for the next book! 💕

Continued Epic Expansion
Revisado: 04-08-25
I don't know how he does it but Brandon continually raises the bar in his storytelling and world (universe) building. I wish I could chat with him because I want to find out how he became so emotionally intelligent, trauma informed, and growth oriented. He understands character development on a scale that few attempt. I love the expanded versions of every character in this book and the truly remarkable surprises along the way. One of my favorite series ever!

Easter Eggs
Revisado: 01-11-25
I think this story had more connections to every other story before and after it chronologically, and it was absolutely delightful and thrilling to notice them along the adventure. I didn't realize I would be so moved by the main dwarfs character and his story. Some truly touching moments. Thank you, michael!

Excellent Fantasy!
Revisado: 09-29-24
I love fantasy, and often revisit my favorite adventures. I'd never read/heard this series or author before, but I really wanted a new fantasy adventure. This was absolutely perfect, both in the story and the narration. Now I want to listen to the rest by this AL Knorr!

Historia
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Historia
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, is one of the most recognizable and mysterious figures in the Harry Potter series. As an unscrupulous beetle-like journalist once said, he's "a biographer's dream." Is he omniscient or limited? Is he benevolent or malevolent? What really drove him in the last years of an extraordinary life? Dumbledore dives between the lines of the Harry Potter books to create a portrait of the controversial Headmaster. We find Dumbledore's hand in every seeming coincidence and consider the impossible decisions he had to make.

I've read the Harry Potter books probably 20 times, and I love finding others that are as intrigued by the details and behind the scenes realities as I am. This felt like a chat with dear friends about dear friends, and I'm glad I can add this to my Harry Potter collection.

What Epic Fairytales are Made of!
Revisado: 12-05-23
Kassandra Claire is one of my favorite authors, and I've listened to all of her main Shadow Hunter book series' multiple times. She really understands the psychology of her characters, and keeps them consistent throughout the stories. She's realistic about her male characters, but always includes really good guys, which I appreciate so much. I relate to the main male character in this story, and can't wait to find out what happens in the rest of the series. There's also a range of powerful female characters that I adore, and everyone's story is interweaving so intriguingly. The next book can't come fast enough!

The town of Stone in the Glen used to be lovely, but it hasn’t been so in a very long time. Once a celebrated town with a vibrant town square, prosperous businesses and families, and educated, happy children, Stone in the Glen has fallen on hard times. Incredible Story of Trauma, Fear, People Pleasing, and Choices

I have listened to this story 4 times now, 3 before the movie, and once after. It is an absolutely brilliant tale of how someone who isn't necessarily narcissistic early on can become such a terrible monster later in life.

Really Profound
Revisado: 05-08-23
I grew up in an extreme religious homeschooling cult, and only got away because I studied the bible enough to perceive the heart of Christ, which gave me courage to leave the legalism of the system I was in. So I'm always nervous when people seem to approach the bible as something to play with for their new exciting story. But as another reviewer said, I wish I had heard the author's postscript notes before the rest of the book because hearing her passion and insights made made me feel comfortable with her story. And it really does lineup with what I know of the heart of Christ.
I gave 4 stars for performand simply because the narrator kept pausing awkwardly in the middle of sentences and it threw me off. But listening at 1.5 speed helped.
