Historia
One day, a cataclysmic event occurs: all of the white people in America walk into the nearest body of water. A year later, Charlie Brunton is a Black man living in an entirely new world. Having served time in prison for a wrongful conviction, he’s now a professor of electric and solar power systems at Howard University when he receives a call from someone he wasn’t even sure existed: his daughter Sidney, a nineteen-year-old left behind by her white mother and step-family.

Historia
Aaron Fortin is new in town. He drives a brand-new Acura—a gift from his parents for uprooting him in the middle of senior year. Showing up on his first day at the local public school in that nice of a car? He knows he’ll never blend in, and he doesn’t care to try. The car, the new-kid mystique, he can use all that.... Crystal Giordano carpools to the same school in her friend Trevor’s beat-up van. In the van along with Crystal and Trevor are Paul, Harmony, and Gayle. Crystal’s technically part of their misfit group, but most of the time, she feels like she’s the only one who doesn’t fit.

Funny, Sad subject but wildly entertaining!
Revisado: 07-19-15
Where does A Long Way Down rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The book is at the top for me. It made me laugh out loud. It was fast paced and I could not stop listening.
Who was your favorite character and why?
They all were my favorite because I liked who each of them were. They all had a story and I liked each one of their stories.
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
Each narrator killed it. They made you feel what the character was going through. It felt like the characters were real people doing an interview with you.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely!

I could not finish. A let down.
Revisado: 06-28-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I did not finish this book. I tried 3 times. The narration was terrible. All out of order. I would say better narration.
What was most disappointing about Carl Weber and Treasure Hernandez ’s story?
I don't like the whole fighting the Nation of Islam thing.
Would you be willing to try another one of the narrators’s performances?
NOT by Lynnette Freeman or Kevin R. Free. The others, yes.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The way Vegas was described in the previous books, did not show in this one. Well at least to the part that I managed to get to. The narrator for Vegas did not fit.
There were no redeeming qualities.
Any additional comments?
I just couldn't get into it. I purchased it on the first day it came out. I am so disapointed.

Liked the movie better...
Revisado: 06-28-15
What did you like best about Still Alice? What did you like least?
I the story the best. I thought her battle with the disease was really sad. I disliked the narration. She was very flat. Also very technical. At times it felt like listening to doctors read from a medical journal. The author used the word "She" way too many times. It got annoying. Some of those could have been replaced with Alice.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The most interesting was how quickly her disease took control. The least interesting was the medical language.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
She was very flat. There was no preformance like you would get from a narrator.
Do you think Still Alice needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No, the point was made.
Any additional comments?
I think this book should be read again by narrators. I think some of the annoying things like the many "she's" or all the medical language would be looked past if they record this book with a good narrator. I'm glad it was a short book. I really enjoyed the movie after I listened to this book.

Not a good reason...
Revisado: 06-28-15
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I don't think I would recommend this book. I LOVED the narration. But the story fell short of expectations.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I didn't think she had a valid reason to kill herself. She was not a complete social outcast because she was invited to parties. People knew who she was.
What does Debra Wiseman and Joel Johnstone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I loved their energy. I loved Joel because he made me see each person and feel their stories.
Was Thirteen Reasons Why worth the listening time?
Yes and No. Yes because it was well written. I liked how they switched between her thoughts and his thoughts. Just like pressing pause on a tape. I thought it was brilliant. So it made it an easy listen.
Any additional comments?
I don't think teens or kids should read this book. I don't want the kids who read this book to think "these are my same problems" (typical high school problems) and think it is ok to kill themselves because they can't seem to sort them out. Being a little socially weird or hearing rumor about yourself is not a reason to kill yourself. Teen suicide is a serious problem.

She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I would. I think we all know someone who is dealing with an addition or may be going through it ourselves but afraid to admit it. This book is about a woman with an alcohol abuse problem. It was touching and I loved every minute of it.
What other book might you compare Best Kept Secret to and why?
I have not read many other books about addition. So I do not have another book to compare it to.
Which scene was your favorite?
Spoiler: I have 2 favorite scenes.
1) When she hit rock bottom. When Martin came and took Charlie. She forgot to feed him and he was eating yogurt. Then Jess came and took her to the hospital. I felt bad for her. The drinking just got out of control so quickly. It was sad.
2) The other was when she saw her old friends at the coffee shop and she heard them talking about her being an alcoholic. Again, I felt bad for her. Mean girls grow up to be mean women.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I listened to it non stop. Even on the weekend. I have not done that in a long time.

Historia
On a night flight from London to Boston, Ted Severson meets the stunning and mysterious Lily Kintner. Sharing one too many martinis, the strangers begin to play a game of truth, revealing very intimate details about themselves. Ted talks about his marriage that's going stale and his wife, Miranda, who he's sure is cheating on him. Ted and his wife were a mismatch from the start - he the rich businessman, she the artistic free spirit - a contrast that once inflamed their passion but has now become a cliché.

Revisado: 05-09-15
What made the experience of listening to The Kind Worth Killing the most enjoyable?
The story. I loved the twists.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Lily. She was beautifully insane.
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I really liked the narrator for Lily. She really brought the character out. The rest were ok. I liked Ted's narrator but his voice was a little scratchy. I didn't like Miranda's narrator. This wasn't a romance novel. And I feel like she read it like one.
