Historia
Two Truths and a Lie. The girls played it all the time in their cabin at Camp Nightingale. Vivian, Natalie, Allison, and first-time camper Emma Davis, the youngest of the group. But the games ended the night Emma sleepily watched the others sneak out of the cabin into the darkness. The last she - or anyone - saw of them was Vivian closing the cabin door behind her, hushing Emma with a finger pressed to her lips. Now a rising star in the NYC art scene, Emma's paintings catch the attention of Francesca Harris-White, the socialite and wealthy owner of the very same Camp Nightingale.

Great book, terrible mixing
Revisado: 12-12-22
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and the story, but the sound mixing was awful. Even at top volume in my car and on my phone, I struggled to hear the narration over highway noises. For context, my car's top volume is 63. I typically listen to audiobooks in the 45-50 range. I loved this story, but I do the bulk of my listening while driving, and I struggled to get through this.

Having entertained the idea for years, and even offered a few questionable opportunities ("It's a piece of cake! Just do four hours of interviews, find someone else to write it, put your face on the cover, and voila!") I have decided to tell these stories just as I have always done, in my own voice.

What a treat!
Revisado: 05-22-22
I don’t typically gravitate to memoirs. That being said, this narration is less like the author reading his book and more like he’s sharing stories with me over a beer. It was a treat to listen to, and I’ve recommended it to dozens of friends.

Historia
In Sugar Roses, Oklahoma, events tumble rapidly toward the End of the World. We're introduced to a cross-section of this fervently Baptist college town as it struggles to comprehend a series of supernatural phenomena: roadkill returned to life, a little girl who speaks classical Greek, an ominous shortwave signal, and a demonic voice that calls itself the Megatron.

Definitely a fantastic road trip listen!
Revisado: 09-04-19
So, I read this book when it was first published, and I was delighted to find an audiobook version to listen to, as I remember the story being really great. Any reader from Oklahoma will tell you that Carvajal is on point with the detail he weaves into the story. The narration, read by the author himself, is wonderfully captured and lends itself to a new perspective of the story.
Welcome to Sugar Roses, Oklahoma, y'all.

In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

So good!
Revisado: 07-14-18
Ready Player One is easily the best book I’ve read this year. Wil Wheaton’s narration is spot on perfection for the character of Wade Watts. I was torn between wanting to listen to every word and wanting to pick up my Kindle to finish reading the book. Read this. Listen to it. You won’t be disappointed.

This Pulitzer Prize-winner is a deeply touching and funny play about three eccentric sisters from a small Southern town rocked by scandal when Babe, the youngest, shoots her husband. It's clear why this is a Pulitzer-winning story
Revisado: 11-13-17
I downloaded this in anticipation of an audition for the same show. I'd never read it before, and never saw the film, so I really didn't know much of what it was about.
The story itself is very compelling, and I found myself wrapped up in the Magrath sisters' story. I found myself empathizing with Lenny, hating Meg, and becoming increasingly frustrated with Babe, but ultimately rooting for all of them.
Definitely a good listen.

A wonderful way to experience the story again!
Revisado: 11-06-17
I downloaded this book primarily to be an easy listen for the road. I've read all of John Green's books, and I was seeking a new way to experience the stories for the first time. I could not be happier with this. Dan John Miller's narration is perfect, and closely matches the voice my brain invented for Q the first time I read the book. It's a great listen, and I highly recommend it.

Amazing story!
Revisado: 09-08-17
What did you love best about Beneath a Scarlet Sky?
This story is captivating from the very beginning.
What did you like best about this story?
That it's true! I don't normally read or listen to biographies, but this story was amazing and heartbreaking. There were plenty of places where I found myself tearing up at the events.
What about Will Damron’s performance did you like?
The narrator did a really great job of setting the pace and keeping you interested. His German and Italian pronunciations are spot on.
If you could rename Beneath a Scarlet Sky, what would you call it?
I'd say Profiles in Courage, but that's already taken. Pino and the General? The Milanese? The Observer?

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.
