When the call came it seemed like the answer to my prayers. My career as a voice actor had been over for months and me and my little girl Scarlet were living back at my mum’s place. I felt like a failure professionally—and with Scarlet having problems at school, as a parent as well. So, when I was asked to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts I jumped at the chance, even if it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex, Hugo, for a few weeks. Hugo, with his perfect new home and his perfect new girlfriend Saskia. But this isn’t a dream come true. It’s a nightmare.

Resilience and Courage. Extraordinary novel.
Revisado: 01-10-24
One of the best books I’ve listened to. The journey of two young boys, typical in most ways of growing up.
Until a terrible tragedy occurs that fast tracks their lives from boyhood into maturity too soon.
Frank and his kid brother demonstrate wisdom beyond their years.
Together they discover the terrible price they will pay.
Their family survive through the grace Of God.
The narration is captivating. Highly recommend this book.

Captivating, thought provoking journey
Revisado: 01-06-24
To quote Nadine Gordimer: “A staggering achievement, brilliantly enjoyable”
A mix of realism and satire create a vivid tapestry.
The reality of migration and the question of identity is thought provoking.
The quest for truth is a road through many hardships.
It grounds the listener.
Weighing good and evil, both are realities.
The narration was superb.

Roger Stringer grew up in rural Mississippi, hunting and eating everything from deer to rabbits. When he had two sons, Zac and Justin, he gave them guns and took them to the woods as well. Then one day when the boys were home alone, he got a call from Zac that Justin had been shot. What follows is an intimate and gripping memoir about the shooting’s aftermath. The story moves between the perspectives of Roger and Zac as they take us through their journey of betrayal, redemption, and ultimately confrontation with a company that had kept its corruption a secret for decades.

Tragedy and the injustice of the legal system
Revisado: 01-06-24
A horrific tragedy that a family had to endure. The truth about big corporations that can afford to ignore their own negligence which results in tragedy. My respect for Richard and Zac. My compassion for their loss. I hope that someday Zac will be freed of any fault. My best wishes and hope for them and their family.

Historia
A modern classic, this epic tale of families, romance and political intrigue, set in India, never loses its power to delight and enchant listeners. At its core, A Suitable Boy is a love story: the tale of Lata - and her mother's - attempts to find her a suitable husband, through love or through exacting maternal appraisal. At the same time, it is the story of India, newly independent and struggling through a time of crisis as a sixth of the world's population faces its first great general election and the chance to map its own destiny.

Absolutely splendid story, the perfume of India
Revisado: 12-09-23
One of the reviews of a Suitable Boy, which was published in 1993, was written by Trevor Fishlock of the Sunday Tribune. He said “You will not find the city of Brahmpur on a map of India.”
Now thanks to Google Maps it can be identified, worth looking at since it takes centre stage in this beautifully written novel.
The story revolves around 4 Families, all of whom are brought vividly to life by the narration of Sagar Arya.
The novel is a phenomenon and despite its length I regretted that it drew to an end.
Highly recommend this amazing book!

The plot was weakly constructed pointing all over leaving it without credibility. The narration was monotonous. The ending really made the novella frivolous. Not up for o the author’s normal standards.

I could not believe the 7 hours flew past so fast, storyline was addictive, enjoyed the narration. People are so gullible it always amazes me how easily vulnerable people can get hooked by really bad people.
