Historia
This book is based on the true life of Henry Stuart. When the 67-year-old former professor finds out he is dying of tuberculosis, he vows to “learn in solitude how to save myself.” He sets off for Fairhope, Alabama, with only the writings of his beloved Tolstoy for company. There, the barefoot poet builds himself a small hut and slowly becomes an inspiration for the rest of the utopian town. When his last few months become his last few years, Henry’s attempt to understand death becomes a lesson on life.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

He's more than just eye candy
Revisado: 08-02-23
I'm not good at writing reviews. I just like it or I don't and I liked this audible. here's a man who is willing to be authentic and to reveal his skeletons for the sake of showing us who he really is. Turns out he's a lot like you and me. Also, he inspired me to get on with my bucket list. A good book.

Historia
Celebrated author and newspaper columnist Rick Bragg brings us an ode to the stories and history of the Deep South, filled with “eclectic nuggets about places and people he knows well” (USA Today) and written with honesty, wit, and deep affection. A collection of wide-ranging and endearingly personal columns — from Bragg’s love of Tupperware (his mother preferred margarine tubs and thought Tupperware was “just showing off”) to the decline of country music, from the legacy of Harper Lee to the metamorphosis of the pickup truck.

I loved this book.
Revisado: 03-28-23
If I were ever to write my own story, I would choose the same or similar format that Rick Bragg used. I love the way he writes. I feel the words with my heart. I think that happens when the writer writes from his or her heart. I feel like a member of his family while reading. His stories are funny, sensitive, and revealing. His stories about food are palate seductions. His stories of family are deeply felt by him, it seems, and the humorous jabs at some of the kinfolk are also entertaining. I don't know why it took me so long to discover him but I'm glad I did.
