Historia
From executive producers of The Walking Dead and Travis Beacham, the writer of Pacific Rim, comes a heart-stopping Audible Original featuring a brilliant British cast. It’s the near future and seven years since a comet hit the earth and blotted out the sun. The world is a dark, frozen landscape. And then, beastly creatures emerge and take over. A story of apocalypse, horror, and adventure, Impact Winter is a wholly original new saga created just for Audible with immersive 3D audio that dares you to pop in your earbuds and listen in the dark.

Engaging
Revisado: 01-15-25
This whole cast story is different from the normal single narrator audiobook I'm used to. The story is very interesting and holds my attention. I am getting used to the full cast aspect and am looking forward to continuing the seasons. More reviews to come.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet.

Historia
Cynical, quick-on-the-trigger Takeshi Kovacs, the ex-U.N. envoy turned private eye, has changed careers, and bodies, once more, trading sleuthing for soldiering as a warrior-for-hire and helping a far-flung planet's government put down a bloody revolution.

"This Afterlife Shit Is Overrated", Takeshi Kovacs
Revisado: 08-27-24
The world-building in "Broken Angels" is outstanding that presents a gripping and thought-provoking story of geo-politics, world war, corporate wrong doing, and advanced science possibilities with a noir detective feeling.
Kovaks is still haunted by his past, almost to distraction, and he doesn't always seem like he's the smartest one in the room, but in the end he figures it out and ends up on top.
The narration by Todd McLaren is once again spot on and presents you with a whole range of individual characters to experience.
I'm on to listen to the next book in the Takeshi Kovacs Trilogy, Woken Furies.

Historia
In the 25th century, humankind has spread throughout the galaxy, monitored by the watchful eye of the U.N. While divisions in race, religion, and class still exist, advances in technology have redefined life itself. Now, assuming one can afford the expensive procedure, a person's consciousness can be stored in a cortical stack at the base of the brain and easily downloaded into a new body (or "sleeve") making death nothing more than a minor blip on a screen.

Revisado: 08-17-24
Just finished listening to Altered Carbon and loved the story line. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and it made me think. These are the things I want a book to do, and it did it in spades. The narrator, Todd McLaren made the characters and story come alive. I'm getting ready to jump into book 2 of the Takeshi Kovach series, Broken Angels.

Historia
The world has changed. Now, when someone is murdered, they almost always come back to life—and there are professionals, called “dispatchers”, who kill in order to save lives, to give those near the end a second chance. Tony Valdez is a dispatcher, and he has never been busier. But for as much as the world has changed, some things have stayed the same. Greed, corruption, and avarice are still in full swing.

Very Satisfying
Revisado: 08-07-24
I am glad that I have finally taken the time to listen to the work of John Scalzi. He writes his characters so that they are easy to get to know, and once you know them the actions they take seem logical for them. Being a former resident of the city, the narrative takes place in I found myself smiling at references to streets, neighborhoods and landmarks accurately called out. The conclusion of the story had some unexpectedly enjoyable twists and turns and was overall very engaging. I know I will find myself looking up Zachary Quinto on the Audible site to find other works he has done in genres that I like. I have done this for authors, but I have never done so for a narrator. His voice acting abilities have really impressed me.

Revisado: 08-07-24
The excellent story started in first part continues on at a breakneck pace with more world building and character development. Scalzi seems to build drama and excitement effortlessly. Quintos's narration continues to be excellent. His voice delineates each character very well. I even enjoyed his French accent. I am looking forward to the conclusion.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.
