Historia

A few miles away, at a local rodeo, Sophia Danko, a senior at Wake Forest, meets a young cowboy named Luke. Ira and Ruth. Sophia and Luke. Two couples who have little in common. Yet their lives will converge with unexpected poignancy, reminding us all that even the most difficult decisions can yield extraordinary journeys: beyond despair, beyond death, to the farthest reaches of the human heart.

Wow!!

Saying this was a great book doesn’t do it justice. I would have to add that the narrators for the book were some of the best. I’ve heard —highly recommend.

Historia
When a senator's wife and teenage daughter are kidnapped, Thomas Crocker and SEAL Team Six are sent to Mexico's lawless countryside, where federal agents protect instead of hunting down violent narcotics kingpins. The two women have been kidnapped by the Jackal, a drug lord drunk on power and influence. He also happens to be a self-styled modern Che Guevara, who has undergone plastic surgery to disguise his looks and justifies his brutal methods and Machiavellian drug empire with the politics of social revolution.

Great book-but not for the feint of heart-
Revisado: 06-02-23
I read Book 1 and almost didn't listen to Book 2. Some of Michael Gear's detailed descriptions are so vivid--they can take you to a place you may not want to go.
I almost put book 2 down a couple of times. Not because of the story, or the narration, which were very well done. Some scenes were too much--almost! His descriptions were do vivid I felt like I was there. Isn't that what a good book is supposed to do?
Personally I normally prefer a book that perhaps exposes the ankles to the dark waters--his book emerges the whole body into the abyss...but he does bring you back out into the light!
Well done!!!
Bottom line-five stars!!!
