Historia
Tornadoes, cyclones, tsunamis… Weather can be deadly – especially when it strikes without warning. Millions of Americans could soon find themselves at the mercy of violent weather if the public data behind lifesaving storm alerts gets privatized for personal gain. In his first Audible Original feature, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Michael Lewis delivers hard-hitting research on not-so-random weather data – and how Washington plans to release it.

The storytelling was not fully fleshed out
Revisado: 08-06-18
I enjoy Michael Lewis and this is certainly a prescient topic. I just found that it meandered without a clearly defined structure. Since this is a fast listen, it doesn't hurt too much though expectations need to be lowered.

Historia
Narrated by Emmy Award–winning actor Martin Sheen, The Home Front: Life in America During World War II takes listeners into the lives of Americans at home—part of the Greatest Generation—who supported the war effort and sustained the country during wartime. The war brought immediate, life-changing shifts: the rationing of meat, dairy products, and sugar; an explosion of war-related jobs; and, despite mixed signals, a greater role for women working outside the home.

Please have Martin Sheen narrate every book ever!
Revisado: 09-08-17
Where does The Home Front: Life in America During World War II rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I'll just say that it's a must listen.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Home Front: Life in America During World War II?
There were several juxtapositions of the nazis' treatment of the Jewish people with America's treatment of African American people. It was jarring and instructive.
Have you listened to any of Martin Sheen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I haven't and now I will seek out his other performances. His voice has an indescribable quality which draws me in.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I couldn't actually do one sitting though I finished in one day. I listened to and from work and during lunch.

There is an old saying about problems that you may have heard before, "There are no problems, only opportunities." To this simple-minded approach, Bill Gibson says, "Hogwash." Problems do exist. And you need to prepare for them and understand them before you can overcome them. Even the great problem solvers can't make problems go away, but they often find opportunities linked to them.

Historia
Among Americans, diabetes is more prevalent today than ever. Obesity is at epidemic proportions; nearly 10% of children are thought to have nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. And sugar is at the root of these, and other, critical, society-wide, health-related problems. With his signature command of both science and straight talk, Gary Taubes delves into Americans' history with sugar: its uses as a preservative, as an additive in cigarettes, the contemporary overuse of high-fructose corn syrup.

Author lives in a fantasy world
Revisado: 10-08-16
What disappointed you about The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up?
The advice runs counter to human psychology. In real life, a messy person who spends a long weekend to reach an immaculate state will just revert. This messy person has not built the habits to keep clean. The author expects this person to just look around at a tidy place and use self-discipline. Humans have poor self-discipline On the other hand, a messy person who builds a system to clean a few minutes every day, (counter to the author's advice) will turn cleanliness into a habit.
