Historia
Ben and Marian Rolfe are desperate to escape a stifling summer in their tiny Brooklyn apartment, so when they get the chance to rent a mansion in upstate New York for the entire summer for only $900, it's an offer that's too good to refuse. There's only one catch: behind a strange and intricately carved door in a distant wing of the house lives elderly Mrs. Allardyce, and the Rolfes will be responsible for preparing her meals. But Mrs. Allardyce never seems to emerge from her room, and it soon becomes clear that something weird and terrifying is happening in the house.

Good, old school supernatural story
Revisado: 08-02-16
While the story is king of predictable, and anyone that is very familiar with the horror genre should know where it is going pretty quickly, I greatly enjoyed the listen.

So sad for the end of this trilogy...
Revisado: 08-02-16
Excellent! I have loved all three books in the Bill Hodges trilogy. I fell in love with the characters in this series and wished so much that this wasn't the end. If you are looking for a great character driven tale, I recommend this book along with Mr. Mercedes and Finders Keepers.

Dean and Jess knew the house had a tragic past but it did not stop them from making the move with their young daughters. It was supposed to be a new - and bigger - home with which they could continue to build upon their already established happy memories but as the house's past begins to haunt them they realize it is not the dream they first hoped it to be.

Not good...
Revisado: 09-07-15
First off, the narrarator did this thing with his voice where he would drop it down unnaturally low; it was very annoying. I think I could have dealt with it if it had been the book's only issue.
The story itself started off okay and held my attention well for a while. It wasn't one that was difficult to walk away from, but I did care about the characters and wnated to know what was going on with them. And then, the story shifted. It went from being a supernatural thriller to one that should be filed away in the erotica section. In the beginning, the couple in the story was intimate, but by the end of the book, everyone was and in a more graphic manner than they were in the beginning. It was like he couldn't figure out what to do with these characters, so he would fill the pages with sex and hope for the best. The actual story line at the end of the book was weak and was poorly covered by the author's attempt at erotica. It was not scary and was actually pretty lame.

Historia
When Laurie was a little girl, she was forbidden to enter the room at the top of the stairs. It was one of many rules imposed by her cold, distant father. Now, in a final act of desperation, her father has exorcised his demons. But when Laurie returns to claim the estate with her husband and 10-year-old daughter, it's as if the past refuses to die. She feels it lurking in the broken moldings, sees it staring from an empty picture frame, hears it laughing in the moldy greenhouse deep in the woods.

Didn't want a 'Chose Your Own Ending' book
Revisado: 08-28-15
I was really enjoying the story and was curious as to how it was going to end, since the author did a well enough job that the story kept me in my toes. And then, it just stopped. I am very disappointed in this. One more chapter to twosome resolve the conflict would have made this a five star story. I am left wondering about characters that I grew to care about. Disappointing! !!

Historia
When washed-up priest Angela Murs and skittish ghost hunter Tim Golding are summoned to a vast country manor to help a sick little boy, they have no idea what to expect. While it's clear that young Sammie is a very disturbed child, there's surely no way he could have been behind the recent spate of accidents or the death of his father. The child is dirty, malnourished, and perhaps the victim of a negligent mother, but as Angela and Tim's investigations take them deeper into the mystery, they realize there is much more going on than they ever could have imagined.

Not what I was expecting....
Revisado: 08-27-15
I had read the reviews and had seen how scary this book was suppose to be. This made me excited and could not wait to get right to it. While the story wasn't bad, it wasn't scary either. And it was predictable, at least to me. Its very much on par for possession stories.
I also did not like that the narrarator spoke more softly for his male characters than he did some of him female. In a conversation, this could make it a little uncleas as to who was saying what.
While I did enjoy the book, it was not the terror that I was hoping it would be.

Addictive!
Revisado: 08-27-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I totally would. This series of books are fun. I am bummed that the remaining books in the set are not on Audible (hint, hint). While the books in the Haunted series that I have listened to so far are not the type that keep you on the edge of the seat or have odd twists and turns, I enjoy them. They are a nice escape.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mia. These are basically her stories, and I found myself wanting things to turn out for the best for her. I like her Godfather Ralph, too. He would be fun in realy life!
Any additional comments?
I enjoy this series, and as I said above, hope that more are made into Audible books. I recommend these for someone wanting some light listening.

Where did they find this narrator?
Revisado: 06-05-15
I enjoyed the story and found myself investing more time to listening than I had planned because I want to know what would happen next. The narration was poorly done with horrible accents and mispronounced words. Thankfully, someone else handles the next book in the series, so I can continue to listen to the story.

Historia
John was 15 when it began. Visions, voices, feelings, an ability to make up stories about the future that, uncannily, came true. Actually, in retrospect, he was probably much younger than that, but it wasn't until he reached his teens that he realized his abilities were extraordinary. John Edward is now a renowned psychic medium whose talents are matched by only a handful of people in the world. One Last Time is his remarkable story.

Very Enjoyable
Revisado: 06-02-15
If you could sum up One Last Time in three words, what would they be?
Couldn't put it down. ( I know...four words) I listened to the book right after purchasing it while driving, and continued to listen as I wet to sleep that night. Got up the next morning and jumped right in.
What did you like best about this story?
It was uplifting. I have recently suffered a major lost, and the book helped validate my belief that those that have passed are still with us.
Which character – as performed by John Edward – was your favorite?
n/a
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I think the book is helping me in my grieving process. There is not a particular moment, but the story in general has seemed to lift my mood.
