Better than the show!
Revisado: 08-20-19
I found this book after seeing the tv show was based on O’Malley’s book. I really am enjoying the show but the Myfanwy in the book is 100 times more interesting. Duerden does a fantastic job portraying the nuances of the character. Disgust, horror, weary resignation, and a multitude of other emotions come through loud and clear. Plus she did a great job with the Dutch and various accents! I would have been skimming over all the pronunciations in my head so it’s a much more satisfying “read” when you get to hear how things are supposed to sound. The tale is woven together, going back and forth between letters left by the Myfanwy of before the memory loss, filling in necessary details, and the mad scrambling that the Myfanwy of the present is doing to stay ahead of her unknown enemy. I highly recommend this book!!!!

Beautifully narrated!
Revisado: 09-28-18
The story is compelling and the intrigue pulls you into the story right from the start. The world building is so close to ancient history with an interesting religious addition that puts a completely new spin on things. And the “hero’s quest” is also changed as it is the “heroine’s” quest. But I think what made this story even better for me was the audible performance. Ms. Flosnik did the many voices brilliantly! It was always evident who was speaking—to the point that one would assume there was a whole cast of performers! I also appreciated the accent and French pronunciations. What would have been tongue twisted and garbled in my mind came across elegantly and fluidly. It added a dimension to the characters that would otherwise have been lacking. Altogether, a superbly executed performance, of a fascinating and enveloping tale.

Fantastic performance!

Joe Knezevich truly made the story come alive for me. I listened to the first book on a road trip and had to continue listening to the series. The wonderful use of language, so rich and descriptive, and the depth of the characters made this a must listen! I can't wait to hear how Gallow and Ragged come together in the conclusion!

Historia
Mercenary Kate Daniels and her mate, Curran, the Beast Lord, are struggling to solve a heartbreaking crisis. Unable to control their beasts, many of the Pack’s shape-shifting children fail to survive to adulthood. While there is a medicine that can help, the secret to its making is closely guarded by the European packs, and there’s little available in Atlanta. Kate can’t bear to watch innocents suffer, but the solution she and Curran have found threatens to be even more painful. The European shape-shifters who once outmaneuvered the Beast Lord have asked him to arbitrate a dispute - and they’ll pay him in medicine.

Rises above expectations!
Revisado: 06-20-16
Love the story and eagerly await every story of Post-shift Atlanta. You never know what adventure awaits or what new facet of Kate and Curran's relationship will be revealed. In addition, the cast of characters in their motley crew is expanded in this book. We are introduced to Jim's sister and find out more about peripheral characters from the previous novels--Eduardo the werebuffalo, George (Mahon's daughter), and Aunt B. Another can't put it down, must read from Ilona Andrews!
