Can not believe
Revisado: 09-11-22
What the !! I can not believe I listened to this only to have no real ending....lots of unanswered questions and the feeling of being left hanging out there. What happened to Mike? What's going on with the kids? Sorry to say but I was quite disappointed in this book.

I enjoyed listening to this book. kept me guessing right up to the end about who the killer(s) were. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars were the few explicit love scenes...

Historia
Scotland Yard Detective Superintendent Duncan Kincaid and his wife, Detective Inspector Gemma James, have been invited for a relaxing weekend in the tranquil Cotswolds, one of Britain’s most beautiful and historic regions. A centerpiece of this glorious fall getaway is a posh charity luncheon catered by up-and-coming chef Viv Holland. But a tragic car accident followed by a series of mysterious deaths could ruin her ascent. Each piece of information that surfaces makes it clear that the killer had a connection with Viv’s pub - and perhaps with Beck House itself.

Too many characters introduced all at once
Revisado: 08-27-20
I like these series and have read/listened to most. I have started this book over 3 different times as well as gone back to past chapters to try to keep up with all the characters. To me it seems the author has tried to put all the people into the story at once instead of introducing them slowly and its hard to keep up with who is who. I think all in all that is the one thing that kept me from really enjoying the book the way I have her past books.

Historia
In her career as an Army intelligence officer, Amy Cornwall has seen haunting sights half a world away. None compare to the chilling scene at her Virginia home. It is empty. A phone rings with a terrifying ultimatum: locate and liberate an unnamed captive in 48 hours, or her kidnapped husband and 10-year-old daughter are dead. Now, and in open defiance of Army Command, Amy must employ every lethal tactic she has to save them. To succeed, she must discover not only who dispatched her on this mission, but why. Without her family, she's dead anyway.

Kept wondering why
Revisado: 08-23-20
Throughout the entire story Amy kept referring to her daughter by her given name, Denise. It was always "my husband and Denise" Or "as I think of what is happening to my husband and Denise" or "my poor Denise". I kept wondering why any mother trying to save her family would refer to her daughter in such an impersonal way.

I suggest you listen to "Absolute Fear" before Lost Souls. Absolute Fear introduces you to Rick Bentz and his daughter Kristi, to Eve (Kristi's half sister) and Cole Dennis and to a seriel killer. Both are great they have so many twist and turns, they keep you wanting to not turn your ipod off

Good twist at the end.......But
Revisado: 07-26-10
Do not misunderstand I liked the story and it has an unexpected twist at the end, it just took to long to get there. It could have been about one hour shorter if the author had moved things along between the murders a little faster.

A big disappointment
Revisado: 05-31-10
I have been a fan of Kay Scarpetta's since the first book..But the last couple of Patricia's books on Scarpetta have not been her best work ... I had a hard time getting through this one,but being a Scarpetta fan I kept listening hoping it would get better. Maybe Patricia and Kay need some time apart, so they can get back to where you can't wait to turn the page and see what happens next
