I loved learning about Ted Templeman's life, influences and motivations. He was responsible for so many songs that were the soundtrack of my own life. Being a musician, I've always been interested in recording and production and Templeman was one of the best. This book gave great insight into his thought process and decisions he made for some truly iconic recordings. Very interesting book.

The Pillars series was how I was introduced to Ken Follett and this prequel is excellent the way it ties in so many of the elements of the subsequent volumes. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

I love Tucker and his intelligence, amazing wit and courage. The author did a fine job of highlighting those areas. If I was disappointed about anything, it was the decision to have the author also read the book. It felt like he had trouble effectively delivering his own work in an engaging and entertaining way. His pacing and rhythm were off - it sounded like he either hadn't read it before (which, being the author, of course he had!) or that he wasn't able to read slightly ahead of where he was, like excellent readers do in order to anticipate what was coming. He sometimes sounded hesitant or jerky, and I think there were even a couple of mispronounced words. But the story was excellent, so kudos for that! Definitely worth the read!

I followed this story as closely as possible while it was happening, but due to the media black out on the subject during and after the election, we never really heard what ended up happening. This answers that question and many others. It's amazing what you can get away with when your name is Biden and the media and government are on your payroll. Great writing and reporting!

MUST READ/LISTEN!

Obviously, Navarro being a Harvard grad (PhD) I'm sure has a lot to do with the depth of the research and the concise and logical presentation of the facts here. However, it is quite a pleasant surprise to see the way in which he narrates his own material. Knowing that he also has taught at the college level, I was worried this might be akin to one of the courses I took in college where I could easily make up any lost sleep. That is not the case here. Navarro is engaging, passionate and animated in just the right measure, without being "preachy" or strident. I also have to say that I have read much of his trilogy he wrote about the 2020 election and the facts he presents there are equally astounding and well-researched. Peter Navarro does not deal in "anonymous sources" or hear-say half-truths. Just check the biographies of his books - including this one. He's dead-on and should be regarded as a very credible source and voice in these incredible times. Read/listen to Navarro. He knows.

surprising and enjoyable

I wasn't sure what to expect at first. I'd heard some brief descriptions, so I kind of know what to expect but it was so much more! The last chapter, "The Toast" was particularly interesting and could have been written today. Quite amazing and insightful!

Great series of lectures!

This series of lectures definitely filled in the gaps for me in my knowledge and understanding of the significant events, players and countries involved in the time of the Battle of Hastings and William the Conqueror. I wish that my history classes were like this when I was in school! I'm sure I would've learned and retained much more. Plus, the accompanying PDF materials are excellent supplements to this series. I look forward to more lectures in the Great Courses series.
