Historia
A secret buried in the Antarctic. A puzzle unsolved for thousands of years. And a Brooklyn-born master gunnery sergeant who's royally pissed that he has to babysit the researchers sent to figure it all out. But when Patrick "Wic" Finnegan finally sees what the team has uncovered, he can't believe his eyes, nor is he prepared for the violence to come. Soon, the portal opens and unleashes a storm of unbridled fury upon humanity.

Historia
Tool, a half man/half beast designed for combat, is capable of so much more than his creators had ever dreamed. He has gone rogue from his pack of bioengineered "augments" and emerged a victorious leader of a pack of human soldier boys. great original thoughtful science fiction
Revisado: 10-29-17
Paolo Bacigalupi continues his drowned cities universe in this book. Readers should probably read drowned cities before listening to this book. Clearly narrated with an interesting original story and characters this book was a delight.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

A great mix of serious science fiction and fun.
Revisado: 06-29-12
I couldn't stop listening. Yes, it was that good. I read the description and was a little worried about the plot but John Scalzi pulled it off fantastically.

Historia
It begins with an explosion. Another day, another bus bomb. Everyone, it seems, is after a piece of Turkey. But the shockwaves from this random act of 21st century pandemic terrorism will ripple further and resonate louder than just Enginsoy Square. Welcome to the world of The Dervish House; the great, ancient, paradoxical city of Istanbul, divided like a human brain, in the great, ancient, equally paradoxical nation of Turkey. The year is 2027....

Great place and great imagination
Revisado: 04-09-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, very imaginative and great characters.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Dervish House?
Completely different take on a Istanbul.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The only problem is the book switches between different scenes frequently with no pause or break.
Any additional comments?

Tad Williams has to be one of the most imaginative writers, I've had the pleasure of reading or listening.
