Historia
In 1909, Clementine steps off a train with her new husband, Winston. An angry woman emerges from the crowd to attack, shoving him in the direction of an oncoming train. Just before he stumbles, Clementine grabs him by his suit jacket. This will not be the last time Clementine Churchill will save her husband. Lady Clementine is the ferocious story of the ambitious woman beside Winston Churchill, the story of a partner who did not flinch through the sweeping darkness of war, and who would not surrender either to expectations or to enemies.

Historia
Frederick Fife was born with an extra helping of kindness in his heart. If he borrowed your car, he’d return it washed with a full tank of gas. The problem is there’s nobody left in Fred’s life to borrow from. At eighty-two, he’s desperately lonely, broke, and on the brink of homelessness. But Fred’s luck changes when, in a bizarre case of mistaken identity, he takes the place of grumpy Bernard Greer at the local nursing home. Now he has warm meals in his belly and a roof over his head—as long as his poker face is in better shape than his prostate and that his look-alike never turns up.

A sensitive yet humorous story of aging.
Revisado: 02-20-25
The characters were well written. They showed the issues of the aged in a sensitive, realistic, and yet humorous way. They were all so vivid. Family relationships and losses were depicted and well described. The book was fabulous!

Widowed at thirty-five, Josephine Reynolds wishes she could disappear, but her concerned sister convinces her to buy their ancestral home, a Craftsman bungalow in disrepair and foreclosure. It's a welcome distraction, and Josephine can't believe her luck when she finds the home's original door in a salvage yard. When she installs the door and steps through it, Josephine is transported into 1927, where she meets her great-grandmother Alma, a vivacious and daring woman running an illegal speakeasy in the bungalow's basement.

I liked learning more about the role Joan Of Arc played in history. She was a strong woman who dealt with a brutal childhood band loss yet came through it as a strong faithful woman.

Historia
When Lydia takes a job running the Senior Citizens’ Social Club three afternoons a week, she assumes she’ll be spending her time drinking tea and playing gentle games of cards. The members of the Social Club, however, are not at all what Lydia was expecting. From Art, a failed actor turned kleptomaniac to Daphne, who has been hiding from her dark past for decades to Ruby, a Banksy-style knitter who gets revenge in yarn, these seniors look deceptively benign—but when age makes you invisible, secrets are so much easier to hide.

I am in my seventies. I live in a sixty five plus community. There are all these characters and personalities here. The author depicted them so well, and humorously that I enjoyed the book immensely.

Dr Eger gave me a Gift.
Revisado: 06-12-23
I listened as I read the book. I to,d my therapist about it and she wants to buy it for some patients. Now I will go back and work on chapter by chapter a week or more hanging signs, hitting pillows, what ever it takes to keep The Gift.in living. I wanted to write a book about my life and now I realize that would perpetuate my past instead of living it in the moment. Thank you Dr Eger. I have already “felt “ a change as I never was allowed to feel growing up.
