Very good.

The attitudes of adults in this book may offend more sensitive listeners. I think they're a necessary evil, though. It's an interesting glimpse into the world of people who name their children for comparative adjectives (Grayer!?) or goegraphic locations. I enjoyed the sarcastic humor and situational jokes.

Darker and funnier.

I've seen this one compared to the Nanny Diaries, but I have to say the Ivy Chronicles is much darker, and funnier. You have to have a slightly twisted sense of humor to enjoy this one, and since I do, it's one of my favorites.

Enjoyable, but hard to get into.

For some reason I found the beginning of this so slow. It was just introductions of people, descriptions of places, and some basic history. Necessary, but kind of boring. It does get better, eventually, but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people have trouble wih the first hour or so.

Loved it.

I still wish we could get unabridged versions of Sedaris' books, because I really wanted this one to go on much longer! From obsessive compulsive behavior to the most awkward wedding party ever, Naked is a real treat for fans. I know David Sedaris isn't for everyone, but for those who like his work, this is no exception.

Just what you expect.

If you've read a few Dan Brown novels, this one is just about what you're expecting it to be. There's a really entangled mystery, this time involving the Illuminati. There are some great characters, and a weird one or two, and just when you have it figured out, the plot twists like a rollercoaster from Mars. Then they fall in love. Totally formulaic, totally fun. Great light reading.

This narrator was perfect.

This is a great story. It's well written, with beautiful descriptions of people and places. I highly enjoyed it, the enjoyment, I am sure, was enhanced by the perfect narration. The narrator's voice is soft and young sounding, much like I would have imagined the character's voice would be. This is one book that is probably better listened to than read.

Frankenstein, Book One: Prodigal Son Audiolibro Por Dean Koontz, Kevin J. Anderson arte de portada

Wow!

I thought this would be a sort of a rewrite of the Frankenstein story, but it's more like a sequel. It's GREAT! I can't go into too much detail without giving something away, but you will find yourself really caring about these characters. I felt like I was in the story. The only problem I had was that he set it in New Orleans. I've lived there, so I kept getting distracted by some slightly off geography, and a district attorney by a name other than Harry Connick, Sr. It's a good listen, though. I recommend it.

I love George Carlin for being so raunchy, so gross, and so much fun, but some moments, when he gets into really graphic detail about snot or scabs, I got a little queasy. Don't listen if you just ate, otherwise, enjoy. It's really funny.

The stage production I saw last year was so GOOD! But, as an audiobook, I couldn't even finish it. Her voice gets SO annoying, especially when she tries to do "characters." A different narrator waould make this easier to listen to. All in all, it's a bit disappointing. Next time your local women's group does a production, go see it, but don't bother with this version.

Great, but still could've been better.

I love David Sedaris. Such a great writer, and hearing him read it is even better. But, I did read the book first, and while I enjoyed the added live bits and readings from his diary, David's brother Paul was notably missing from the abridgement. That's kinda sad, since I thought "the Rooster" was one of the highlights of the book. Anyway, it's definitely worth listening to, but I'd suggest you read it too, or hope for an unabridged version soon.
