Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

This is a story of promise, perseverance and triumph. I enjoyed the story and performance and it offers great hope to anyone not ‘born’ with a silver spoon in their mouth.

Historia
Cherry Walker was a devoted, trusting, uncommonly innocent young woman who loved caring for a neighbor's little boy. But when she was asked to testify in court against his abusive mother, Cherry never got the chance. She couldn't lie if her life depended on it - and it did. Cherry's body was found on the side of a Texas road, after being doused with lighter fluid and set aflame. Attractive, manipulative, and violent, mother of four Kim Cargill had a wealth of dirty secrets she'd do anything to keep hidden.

A story of unbelivable brutality and coldness- not usually seen in a woman. The story is well written and narrated.

Historia
Growing up on Cape Cod in the 1960s, Liza Rodman was a lonely little girl. During the summers, while her mother worked days in a local motel and danced most nights in the Provincetown bars, her babysitter - the kind, handsome handyman at the motel where her mother worked - took her and her sister on adventures in his truck. He bought them popsicles and together, they visited his “secret garden” in the Truro woods. To Liza, he was one of the few kind, understanding, and safe adults in her life.

Historia
Inside a beautiful house in Philadelphia's ritzy Main Line section lay the body of a young mother - dead of an apparent drowning in her bathtub. With no sign of a break-in, no history of marital problems, and the naïve belief that these things sometimes just happen, Stefanie Rabinowitz's family prepared to bury the 29-year-old wife and mother. But at the 11th hour, because Stefanie was so young, and because there were no witnesses to her death, an autopsy was ordered. And what it revealed was unthinkable: Stefanie had been murdered.

Everything I want in a true crime story
Revisado: 07-14-23
This is such a shocking and twist and turn story, I was driving cross country and this book was my companion every mile. It’s a reality check on everyday people that get backed into a corner from compulsive habits and the realization that there are no bounties to save themselves. The narration was outstanding. I give it my highest recommendation. Sad but it’s real. .

I highly recommend this amazing story. It’s suspenseful, well documented and true. Although it is heartbreaking- I found it to be a lesson in human nature and a study in dedicated crime scene investigation. Kudos who care enough for families, to persist for closure. Beautiful!

Outstanding Book with an important Message
Revisado: 01-25-23
I’ve always believed that real life stories offer so much more meaning than a non-fiction story. This beautifully written autobiography is so important and it really opened my eyes and my heart. It should be a must read for everyone in policy-making for this country. It truly moved me to look into how I can be of service with foster care. Cutis to David. A true success story against all odds.

In 2019, veteran journalist Mark Seal began investigating the suspicious death of music mogul Peter Ikin. Just 32 days before he was found dead in his Paris hotel room, Ikin had married a handsome, debonair Frenchman named Alexandre, who would claim to be entitled to his late husband’s fortune. As Seal dug into the case, he had no idea that tracing the incredible life of Alexandre Despallieres would take him from Paris to London to Beverly Hills, and unspool a web of intricate plots and deceptions.

A hard to believe it- true crime story by one of the best researchers and writers in this genre. Really interesting background story and amazing true characters. It’s frightening to know they walk amongst us.
Great Q and A with the author at the end.
