Historia
Titus Briggs is an Earth Defense soldier, a grunt, a decorated war hero—it's all he's ever known. So when a career-ending injury leaves him lying in a hospital bed, missing both legs, he struggles to accept his new reality. He can no longer walk, which means he can no longer fight. That is until a mysterious colonel arrives and offers Titus the opportunity to step into a new kind of war, a new kind of fight. To become a new kind of soldier. Mobile Combat Suits—MOCOMS—represent the next stage in human warfare. They enable soldiers to fight like never before.

Nice first book in what is probably is going to be a great series. But have the authors ever watched a marathon? The wheelchairs finish in about half the time.

This is such a strong book series but this one came up short. Weak story, not the best narration.

Kel Turner is one of the youngest legionnaires ever to be selected to its ranks. Revisado: 04-25-24
This one is one of the best of the series. While kel is a bit of a mary sue, this book really brought texture to the character as opposed to some of the rechs book where you don’t really get much insight into the main character. Well done

Historia
The Iron Wolves are a company of legionnaires whose legendary exploits date back to the Savage Wars. When they are invited to be guests of honor at a ceremony on a small, backwater planet, they look forward to some precious time away from the constant conflicts of galaxy's edge. But when a neighboring country invades, disrupting the ceremony and killing innocents, the Wolves are forced to make an impossible decision. Aid a people pleading for their protection...or obey the cynical orders of their senate to stand down and see how the dust settles.

They were the Savages. Raiders from our distant past. Elites who left Earth to create tailor-made utopias aboard the massive lighthuggers that crawled through the darkness between the stars. But the people they left behind on a dying planet didn't perish in the dystopian nightmare the Savages had themselves created: they thrived, discovering faster-than-light technology and using it to colonize the galaxy ahead of the Savages, forming fantastic new civilizations that surpassed the wildest dreams of Old Earth.

Historia
The scum hiding deep inside the Reach out along galaxy's edge thought they could kill her and not pay the price. For years these hardened killers have run roughshod over the lawless worlds where Republic justice is never as fast as the blaster in your hand and where double-crosses and death are a part of every deal. They thought this time would be no different. They were wrong. This time, the Guild sent the legendary bounty hunter Tyrus Rechs. As the infamous Rechs pursues the men who murdered his colleague, he's hell-bent on justice.

Solid entry, but not exceptional
Revisado: 04-11-23
Interesting to hear some backstory on Tyrus, although I was more interested in how he does things rather than the why. He has a long character arc, and this would be a very short part of his life.
Ray porter is a great narrator and he nailed ‘we are legion’ but not sure his ‘quizzical’ narration voice is a match for the 2,000 year old Rechs.

Historia
The daughter of a Legion war hero, fighting was in Andien Broxin's blood. But the battles Republic marines face on strange and alien worlds are a far cry from the vaunted, brutal, no-holds-barred conflicts fought at the edge of the galaxy by the elite legionnaires. Until a devastating war erupts right in the Republic’s stellar backyard. Newly stationed on a mid-core planet being harassed by terrorist revolutionaries, Andien and her fellow “hullbusters” find themselves right in the middle of a desperate fight for survival.

Worst narration yet. And mediocre writing
Revisado: 04-01-23
This is I think the 9th book in a very good series. Wrong choice of narrator unfortunately. Straining to be dramatic like this is twilight. She win an award for worst impression of a Scot. Voices her father with a southern accent but voices her own character like she’s from Connecticut. Ploddingly slow droning dialogue in the middle of a firefight. Not only is it clear the narrator was never in the military, it’s clear she’s probably never seen a military movie. Enough already. The wiring itself was just thick with introspection at the wrong times, impeding story flow.

Intriguing RE-look at Star Wars concepts
Revisado: 03-20-23
This is a great start to a very compelling & binge worthy series. Something that’s going to whack every reader of this series like a dead fish is, “how is this not a ripoff of Star Wars?”
I don’t think that’s the right analysis though. Yes, there are many themes and concepts from SW. but a better framing is, ‘imagine how Star Wars might have been retold, from the standpoint of military and political action’
Seen this way, Galaxy’s Edge is a worthy value-add to the space opera genre.
I’m sure the folks at Disney didn’t plan on calling their new themed park the same name as this retcon sci-if series. Or, maybe they named the park in spite of these books. But it’s perhaps fitting nonethe less.
Great characters, tech, and plot lines. Enjoy.
